- sounded very familiar (a Madness tune?)
- lovely Tangerine Dreamy licks in this
Thanks for taking the time to comment on all of the tracks. Yes, the brass riff certainly is familiar, but I don't know where I've borrowed it from :? . I think it's just one of those generic ska riffs. Tangerine Dream? - Totolitoto said that too. Not really sure that I see the similarity myself - not that I mind - I just associate TD more with trippy modulated synth arpeggios and looped sequences. I was really thinking along the lines of 'Wilmot' by Sabres of Paradise. (and, yes, it does get a bit repetitive from 2 mins on - I ran out of time..)

Cheers for the votes and the comments folks, I'll do a count up as soon as I can .... keep 'em coming!! :)

Thanks for the vote, Abrastractcats! :)

I hope that by "serious" you just mean time-demanding and that nothing to really worry about is going on... may I ask...?

Thanks Mac, well, it has to do with a common for of skin cancer, my mum at 65 has to have some basal sells removed, not a really big deal but she is nervous, and we own a home and business to gather so its a little stress full at the moment. And basically, since I'm not a pro/paid music guy I've been doing more on getting a web design resume to gather. So not lots of music currently.

Thanks for checking man :)

Damn, sorry to hear that... I know the cancer thing is nothing truly dangerous (that kind is rather common, something like 2 out of 10 people or something and it's never deadly or invalidating, it simply looks bad), but I can understand your mother's fear. I guess it's simply impossible not to find yourself thinking of horror stories when you find yourself in a spot like that. Please tell her I just know there's nothing to fear and give her a big kiss and a hug for me, OK?

As to the stress, that's something I can relate to - I must change my job because I'm starving and I'm in deep financial s**t, headed for disaster and pretty fast, and right now there are no jobs at all, especially for somebody like me with no diplomas or degrees and little working experience...
So yeah, I can understand, man, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, too. Things are gonna look up for all of us, though, don't worry!

Yeah, this one is not a big deal, my grand mother had melanoma and die in 86' so this is very minor indeed. I'll pass on the kind thoughts, thanks mate :)

I know about bad finances, I've been doing better over the past few years but I'm going in a new direction and its kinda strange moving in a new direction.
I guess I'm lucky to such a huge country as there is no shortage of fast food jobs and since I have no kids I could take four if need be.
As for diplomas or degrees, I know about twenty people in my family, cousins and one of my aunts husband who have them and all they have to show for the is a large debt! I think who ever said "find something you like to do and make it pay" had the right idea...accept music that is :(

As for the finances, one person I've found very helpfull is a guy named Dave Ramsey / The Total Money Make Over, do a google search and you'll fin him very easily, he does air his spiritual views in relation to finances some but if religion is not your cup of tea you can skip those parts but I've found good advice in some of his ideas.

Good to you as well Mac. :)

Sorry to hear about your difficulties Abstractcats, best wishes to your mum, I'm sure she'll be fine. And hope things take a turn for the better with your employment and finances ... difficult times all round, but I agree with Mac, our time will come. :)

Anyway, sorry I haven't done that count up yet ... I got a bit waylaid..... will do soon though. :)

( voters : 9, total votes : 81 )

'More Than Meets the Ear' leapfrogs impressively into 1st place over 'Anubian Dubian' and 'Hibernation Chamber' The latter pair are suddenly also under threat from our highest climber 'Anubian Invasion', and 'Abu Dhabi do Dhah'.

Any challenge from 'Minstrel Cycle' appears to have fizzled out.

however, as I always say, and I'm always right :) ... theres a long way to go, and anything can happen! :)

Keep 'em coming!

Hello everyone :)
Sorry for all my inconviniences. I'm back just for one minute to say that I'll post my vote ASAP. I've become lately very busy and unfortunatelly extreemely uninspired :( I'll be waitng though for the next OSC with StringZ 2 (is the idea and synth itself working for you well?). I hope to finish it as I have a lot of unfinished things around...

Post

Got a connection to internet again so I finally can cast my votes.

Mac_of_BIOnighT-HYBERNATION_CHAMBER - 5

I really like the atmosphere this tune creates. Reminds me of "Neptune Towers".

Anubian Dubian - Mr Wobble (Stereo) - 3

Great drums and a lot of nice sounds.

More Than Meets The Ear - Yeager - 1

Good production. The way the bass is played is cool.

Thanks for all the votes. I was already dreaming of getting to choose the synth for the next OSC :hihi:

Stringz 2 worked great for me. It sounds really good when used in a song. :tu:

5 points, amazing O___O Thanks!!! :)

Will have my votes up shortly. Been a bit busy looking at Reaper (not bad at all), and also at Fred's KYOO which is a bit tricky to understand. Also started my StringZ track. (but no, not gonna try any tracker for it.. )

Been listening to the entries a fair few times already and surprising nice sounds people managed to get out of the imho stale Anubis, but once again as is with 'thinnish' synths, it's the FX quality and production that separates their tracks in the end.. :?

Post

Hey, V'ger, don't get too distracted with new toys, I'm really curious to hear what you and the others will accomplish with stringz - that's going to be a great osc :)

Regarding Anubis, I would like to point out - to be fair to the developer - that I only used a tiny bit of reverb and eq, the sound is really generated by anubis and its wondrous multistage envelopes. So what actually sets my track apart are my awesome body and amazing intelligence. :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :P
