Oh wait, I messed that up. You CAN assign to the SAME slot but it will "layer" if you do that. I meant the adjacent slot... sorry about that. You have 6 keys in GM for toms. Each key IS a slot in our map. So if you wanted to make a THREE tom set that had center, rim, center, rim, center, rim (instead of 6 different centers OR rims) you would assign the SAME tom to the ADJACENT tom slot and choose/set a different articulation (center or rim).Chester Desmond wrote:Squids said:Can you clarify this a bit for me? If you had the the 2 toms loaded and assigned to the same slot, which articulation would sound when that midi note was hit?The results are instant. On GM the only non-intuitive but powerful feature there is the "Set Articulation"... I actually wanted that to default to Center but you actually have to "set it" sometimes to either Center or Rim... not a big deal but some people scratch their heads on that one understandably... but then again, it is COOL that you can choose center or rim so that you can decide to make a GM kit that has 3 toms but with center AND rim (load it twice and set one to center and one to rim - both assigned to the same slot #!). That is not something you can usually do in GM so it is nice to be able to spruce GM up a bit with some more expression.
I'll correct my mini tutorial now!
