Fat fingers
As someone who programs touchscreen operator interfaces for a living, I am fairly confident that touchscreen technology won't replace keyboard/mouse anytime soon.
It works great for pointing and clicking big buttons on interfaces designed specifically for touchscreen use. But touchscreens are too imprecise for real work. Try editing a Word or Excel document by jabbing at the text with your finger. It's slow and haphazard unless you zoom way in.
The only viable solution for the precision problems is to use a stylus. If you're tethered to a stylus, what's the point? You've replaced one pointing object in you hand with another.
The future with iPad - really worth a look

Here's a user post from the Inqon touchscreen interfaces and the likelihood that they will replace the keyboard/mouse.

The iPad is 99 percent about content consumption and 1 percent about content creation.

Its all been blown out of proportion -The solution is simple - you just take an Apple router with you everywhere and configure it accordingly. Dont know what all the fuss is about. It might cause the odd argument in a net cafe but get in there, rip out the non Apple kit and bobs yer uncle. Lets just hope the touch screen is punch resistantKriminal wrote:http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8606727.stm

Sort of like the femtocell accessory AT&T is offering to iPhone users to get better signal strength in their homes: http://nyti.ms/azOo5aUltraJv wrote:Its all been blown out of proportion -The solution is simple - you just take an Apple router with you everywhere and configure it accordingly. To be fair, several carriers are offering some sort of mini-tower technology -- for a price.

I got mine on Saturday morning at Best Buy here in town and can't seem to get it out of my hands. Of course, people are screaming about the limitations it has, but when I look at the potential use of apps that already exist and those that are somewhere in the future, I can see the iPad being quite a useful tool. I have already considered getting the $100 ProRemote app for touch control of the mixer parameters and such, but haven't quite made the plunge yet. I'll watch more YouTube videos of it and see how it fares among users who decided to get it. I love this thing!

So I see this guy is known here as a bit of a troll.UltraJv wrote:masstronaut - I just listened to your tracks - I hope they improve when you get an ipad lol
I don't need to talk about my music or defend it here in words, it stands by itself. For those who recognise and feel it, great.
Just wanted to say something about random digs like this, especially way out of context - it's really not the one and just shows your insecurity and poor state.
I care about what I do so yeah I take it kind of personally, even though it's completely meaningless (and content-less) from some internet random.
Pearls before swine though, I guess. On to more positive things.

Yea, it was kinda low - it stopped you going on about the ipoor though didnt it. Psychology isnt one of your strong points either. Learn from this and let it go.masstronaut wrote:So I see this guy is known here as a bit of a troll.UltraJv wrote:masstronaut - I just listened to your tracks - I hope they improve when you get an ipad lol

You're a cretin, seriously. You understand very little, and know nothing about me. I've learned that. You don't get let off the hook for being an irrelevant prick but I'm not interested in stooping.
See ya. Very glad I'm not you.

You just did (stoop that is). I point out deficiencies in Apple stuff and other kit due to over zealous fanbois activity, if thats trolling then fair enough. You must learn not to take things personally Massimo.masstronaut wrote:You're a cretin, seriously. You understand very little, and know nothing about me. I've learned that.
