Okay, here's your chance to get EpiK DrumS kits a la carte on DVD (they are too large to download - they range up to 20 gigabtes each!). The kits are only being offered for a few weeks pre-release and then may come back later and be a permanent product or not. They're called "Special Edition Artist Paks" and they have the multitrack kits of the 5 drummers from EpiK DrumS - A Ken Scott Collection.
Now, they are available for anyone to buy at $179 each. However, if you joined the Ultimate Studio Drums Bundle II: The Sequel ... and you have only until tomorrow at 5pm Florida time to do so... here it is! http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?Prod ... ode=EDKITS ... then you qualify for a $50 off coupon making it only $129 each (and you can use that coupon on any of the 5 or all of the 5 if you want). The coupon code is: USD2EPIK
The links to the products (which have new demos btw courtesy of Dimitar) are here:
http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=4241 [Terry Bozzio]
http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=4240 [Rod Morgenstein]
http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=4242 [Woody Woodmansey - from Bowie's Spiders from Mars]
http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=4238 [Bill Cobham]
http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=4239 [Bob Siebenberg - from Supertramp]
Anyway, the offer and the coupon expire April 15th so good luck and enjoy!

A couple of things...
And could you kindly add the Downbeat Kit to this selection? Is it completed and as ready to go as these other ones?
I have a feeling the Downbeat kit is smaller than 20GB, so is it possible that it could be downloaded (which is preferable for me... even at 20GB).
I know you folks are busy right now, but I hope it won't take too long for this Downbeat Kit (and the DM2 upgrades) to be available. I could really use this Downbeat kit in almost EVERYTHING I am currently working on. It is exactly what I need and would be more useful to me than all the other drum kits available.
With fingers crossed,
Zeddman
This coupon code will also work for those who purchase the Drum Masters 2 upgrade material, right?Squids wrote:Now, they are available for anyone to buy at $179 each. The 60s Downbeat kit is 5 gigabytes and the 70s EJ Kit is a little over 8 gigabytes. I've gotten the okay to sell them together as a pack but after the Special Edition Artist Paks are out. Ironically they were put out for people like you and remember that they are only available for two weeks a la carte and then they are going away for awhile... maybe to return again later. This is just for the LAUNCH of EpiK DrumS and the only reason I got Ken and everyone to agree is because it would be good to have some different users out there talking about the kits as well as the full package. But, for Ken it is also a distraction from what the full collection is about (the kits, the grooves, his mixes, the whole nine). So that's why it is just a temporary thing now. Bottom line is, if you wanted ANY of these current kits on their own that are posted in this thread then now is the time to get them!

Another thing, you can now use that promo code even if you bought Drum Masters 1 Gold or Platinum, DM2 Gold or Platinum or the first Ultimate Studio Drums Group Buy... AND you can use that coupon to save $50 off EpiK DrumS - A Ken Scott Collection on the DVD or HD versions. (The HD version just went up in price thought since the pre-order promo is over... and it is shipping next week!)

Thanks for the info. That's great news. I'll be waiting eagerly.Squids wrote:The 60s Downbeat kit is 5 gigabytes and the 70s EJ Kit is a little over 8 gigabytes. I've gotten the okay to sell them together as a pack but after the Special Edition Artist Paks are out.
I spent some time thinking about what exactly the 70s EJ Kit must be, and I finally realized the obvious--that this is the Elton John Kit. Would I be correct in assuming that you have tried to capture the sound of the kit used on Honky Chateau? That would be another useful kit, indeed!

Yep! A Nigel Olsen/Elton John style kit. Ken recorded Honky Chateau, Don't Shoot Me I'm The Piano Player and Madman Across The Water. Nigel played on those and had a single head kit. We didn't do this one with Nigel... just the 5 drummers was enough!) but we did do these two extra kits in the session at Rob Thomas's studio (from Matchbox 20... ironically he has one of the very few Trident A Range consoles left in the world! Well his producer Matt Serletic actually. The studio used to be called "American" and the B3 there (which we sampled) was used on songs like "Born To Be Wild". Keith Emerson came by (sounds amazing huh? SR sample sessions are some sort of star-studded event! haha) and he was making some lame joke "Born To Be Mild" and cracking up senseless... I had to sort of fake a laugh a bit just to humor him. Here's me playing that organ and I didn't realize Ken was right there but he makes a cameo. http://www.sonicreality.net/videohi/ind ... 0&flvID=10 I will be posting the Emerson visit clip as well very soon. Not the "Born To Be Mild" part though... that was an outtake.zedd wrote:Thanks for the info. That's great news. Anyway, that 70's EK kit is a MUST have for the sound you guys wanted. It can do everything from a Elton to Fleetwood Mac to an early Phil Collins sound all in how you blend the mics! Pretty amazing actually. You get rid of the rooms and bring down the overheads a bit and you have a DRY tight sound. You bring up the far rooms and you have this big singlehead tom sound a la Collins. Really diverse. You can mess around in between. I love that kit. So it is a good one to pair with the Ringo-style set. That's coming later OR you can just get EpiK DrumS - A Ken Scott Collection and have it all NOW because... drum roll please? It's now SHIPPING! No more pre-order. Orders start going out this coming week. Whew! After over 2 years of steady production (with Ken involved every step of the way) it is finally here! Time to celebrate!!!!!!
This surpasses Ocean Way Drums as the most challenging product to create... and that is not easy to do! Both producer/engineers we worked with were extremely picky and particular and to do it to their standards was not easy! But it can be done. We may have to dial it back on the Epikness of the production next time though because 2 years per product is too much! So we'll be seeing smaller scope products like Neil Peart Drums and things like that coming out as opposed to the 130 Gigabyte monsters such as this one... well, who knows? We'll see. But more products, less wait. New SR philosophy.

These demos are awesome -- are these finger drummed samples or groove recordings? Personally loved the Cobham kit.
KUDOS to Dimitar too ... impressive guitar & bass work.

Most of the ones with Dimitar are programmed/finger drummed (by him! He's good at that too...).
Hey, by the way, there's only 11 days left on the limited time offer of these kits a la carte! Don't miss it!

I've got this friend who I've been e-mailing each day with details of my excitement about the Downbeat Kit.
Today he responded:
Keep me posted on The Downbeat Kit.
Sounds like you're pretty "upbeat" about it.
I thought that was funny, and a good observation on his part.
Man, I wish I didn't have to wait. I quickly sampled a few of the snares from the online video just to see how it would fit into different things and it is bing-bang right on the money. It sounds like it is actually a part of any 1968-1969 Beatles song you play along with, and it also sounds just like those 1970s Roots Reggae records out of Jamaica.
I also compared it to the Tea-Towel snare in the Abbey Road Drums, and there is no comparison. The Downbeat Kit has the definitive snare sound I have spent years trying to get in a virtual drum library. This is going to add that subtle magic to my songs which has been missing. I've gotten close... but I still listen to those songs and think "that snare is pretty close, but it still doesn't sound quite right."
I can't believe that those days may soon be behind me!
Did I mention that I am really excited?

What's going on with these? I ordered one on April 3rd and they were due to ship "next week". They didn't. Then I was told they will ship "early next week". That was last week, and it didn't ship.
Getting kind of frustrated, again.....
