Maybe I should just create a "spin-off" product and sell that as an FX plugin :D

Hi Ben!

Well, that's tolerable I guess, as the development GUI is just for prototyping :) After it's mature enough it can get a face lift at the hands of a skilled designer :)

Dear KVR community,

It's been a very busy 5 month period for us to work on our changes for SynthMaster 2.1! We have exciting new features in this release, and we are hoping those new features will place SynthMaster in the "ivy league" of software synthesizers :)

Last night, we have released the first alpha/development build of SynthMaster 2.1. This is a "debug" build, meaning that it runs really "slow". We are hoping to release a "release/production" build this week to fix this issue. Here's the download link for this build for our registered users:

http://www.kv331audio.com/DownloadFile. ... tabIndex=1

Make sure you extract the contents of this archive to a new folder, i.e. dont override the existing 2.0 installations.

So, WHAT'S NEW in 2.1?

1. Faster startup time.

2. Support for multisamples of single cycle waveforms: With this feature it will be very easy to load samples of analog synth oscillators into SynthMaster, and we have already replaced "default" saw/tri/sqr wavetables with multisamples taken from a monophonic analog synthesizer.

3. Support for global engine settings: Global engine quality, Global engine buffer size, Global "default" wavetables for "saw", "triangle" & "square" waveforms.

4. Reverb effect re-written: added Early & Late EQs, room size parameters.

5. Added 4/8/12/16 band Phaser effect to Layer FX

6. Added 1/2/3/4 stage Ensemble effect to Layer FX

7. Added user drawable distortion curve to filters. Distortion can be off, before, after or inside filters.

8. "Digital" filter algorithms re-written based on a famous hardware "V"A synth.

9. Added multimode/dual multimode/peaking filter types for both Digital & Analog algorithms.

10. Added continous slope parameter for analog filters.

11. Added modulation matrix which makes it easier to program sounds. Since this build is an alpha build, we are still adding features, features have no

12. Support for "named" colors in the GUI editor so that skins in different color schemes can be created easily.

13. Visual display for the 4/2 band EQs.

And WHAT ARE THE KNOWN ISSUES IN THIS BUILD?

1. As we wrote above, #1 build was a "Debug" build, therefore performance is "sloowwww"

2. When the current preset is changed from VST host application, the plugin window doesnt syncronize parameters.

3. 2.1 alpha is not %100 backwards compatible with 2.0 presets yet, we are still testing that compatibility. 2.1 beta will be compatible though.

4. Waveform dropdown & display controls on the UI display incorrect waveforms for "default" waveforms (i.e. Square displayed instead of Saw)

5. We still have plans to add more parameters to effects (time permitting) :

5.1 Stereo width for chorus, delay (echo), phaser and reverb effects
5.2 3 band damping control in the Delay feedback loop
5.3 Distortion selection in the Delay feedback loop
5.4 Pre/post 2 band EQ sections for Distortion effect
5.5 Distortion curve in Distortion effect
5.6 2 band EQ for Ensemble effect

6. FX version of SynthMaster is still not built.

7. GUI for 2.1 is still work in progress.

8. Preset development for 2.1 has not started yet.

Cheers!

Great! Thank you :)
I'll wait for the "release/production" build though.
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

looks great, reallylooking forward to the non-debug version though

Hi everyone,

We just released our build #6 SynthMaster 2.1 Alpha

What's added since build #1 ?

1. Added VST (FX) version of SynthMaster 2.1

2. Added output volume parameter for Layers 1&2

3. Added context menus on the user interface: The context menu has menu items for:
3.1. Midi Learn (Assigning MIDI controllers to knobs)
3.2. Assign modulation sources/types for knobs.

4. Added 2 new input sources for the Vocoder: Layer 1 & Layer 2

5. Added a new category of oscillator: "Audio In". This oscillator simply outputs the audio input/sidechain that's fed into SynthMaster so that it could be passed through the filters, effects and modulated by modulators, LFOs, envelopes, etc...

6. Added "Room Size" parameter for the reverb effect

7. Added frequency display view for the 4 band EQ effect.

What's fixed since build #1 ?

8. Since build #2, our builds are Non-Debug (fully optimized).

9. When the current preset is changed from VST host application, the plugin window doesnt syncronize parameters.

10. 2.1 alpha is now %99 backwards compatible with 2.0 presets. We still have to edit the existing 2.0 presets to adjust reverb settings though, since we have a new reverb in 2.1!

11. "Inside" algorithm for "analog" filters doesnt work

12. Turning on Osc2 and turning off Osc1 causes noisy output

13. Turning on Phaser/EQ layer effects mute output

14. Turning off layer effects increases CPU usage (about %10 on 2.0 Ghz machine)

The latest alpha can be downloaded by our registered users from the following link:

http://www.synthmaster.com/DownloadFile ... tabIndex=1

Enjoy :D
