Agreed. These sounds are not weak. They really are the spiritual successors of the great workstation sounds. Whenever I need an electric bass or guitar sound, SampleTank is usually my first port of call (same with sampled horns). Each patch isn't some multi-gig behemouth, but if I need something quickly I know SampleTank will have it and I'll be able to find it in a hurry (and I can load up 16 instruments in one instance, just barely touching my CPU). The built in effects are also excellent (and if I need a little more oomph, SampleTank + AT3 = ).

Seriously 2, 3, or even 4 (dare to dream ;) ) of these libraries for $50 is an absolute steal. Listen to the demo for the OBX library and see if you still think they're weak.

But I can see how, if you're after hold-down-one-key-and-have-a-whole-wave-sequenced-techno-track-play type patches, the Xpansion tank series might not be for you (and you should get the loop libraries instead ;) ).

Er, one question, though: is the content on the Xpansion Tanks different than the content on the Sonik Kapsules? For example, does the Bass Collection Xpansion tank have different content than the Bass Sonik Kapsule from a while back (now available for Infinite Player)?

This will be a great success! For sure!

And now ... as there will be the esoundz version of this GB and just as usual: :D

Edit
The Xpansion is Bass Collection 2. The IKMM page says:
Bass Collection 2 combines the best of the original collection plus additional bass sounds from Sonic Reality's Bass Guitar Capsule all together in one jam-packed library

Well, not for me this time, I think that these "reworked" sounds still sound weak for my taste, especially for the acoustic stuff : piano, guitars (electric and acoustic), basses (electric and acoustic), world, strings and so on...

To each his own ;-).
Weak huh? They're not weak. Anyone who thinks so is missing out.

There are PLENTY of great sounds in this offer to write music with and get inspiration. Is EVERY sound fantastic? No. Some are really amazing and others are just useful and others are one man's trash is another man's gold.

I will say that I find it hard for any musician not to be able to find enough things in this massive offering to be musically useful for this price. $50? 2 libraries AND SampleTank? (by the way, on esoundz if you already own SampleTank we give you an extra bonus library for free - that is one of our "raise the deal" offers plus more).
Squids-
One very important thing that you leave out is the fact that the so-called Sampletank 2.5 'shell' that everyone gets has a really awesome collection of world class FX, INCLUDING a CSR Reverb (in addition to a standard 'verb). There are more than 30 incredible FX algos included, with the usual Flange, Phase, Chorus, Delay, along with some very other useful, but certainly more esoteric, FX.

If you don't like the sounds that are included, you can mangle them, fix them, rearrange them or completely destroy them in any number of ways.

If another company didn't already coin the term for marketing purposes, you'd HAVE to call this deal a real NO BRAINER.

My only question here is whether loyal SR fans can get a complete list of the new material so they can participate and make some informed choices. How 'bout it Dave? :hihi:

Is esoundz updated with the expansion packs yet? I'm seeing original prices on the some of the old libraries.

Post

:wheee: PIANO AND SYMPHONIC STRINGS YEAHH     I'm in......COME ON PEOPLE !

Post

1. Would there be any way to view the complete list of instrument files for each expansion? I have some of the older ones and I would want to know specific changes from the former expansion tanks.

2. When will this be available on esoundz?

Post

Two questions:

1) Could you give a quick primer on SampleTank versus XpansionTank and clarify the version numbers? I see versions 2 and 2.5. I assume that the XL, XL, and L suffixes on some of the esoundz product names have to do with the bundled library content.

2) Is SampleTank/XpansionTank usable with other sampled sounds? I have a couple of collections of wav files that I am having difficulty using and being able to easily map them into a sample player would be great. If not, any recommendations...

Thanks.

As a matter of interest, the number on http://www.ikmultimedia.com/Main.html?x ... /index.php is the number of registrations. You are not "in" until you register your product. And the number is currently 191! It is climbing amazingly fast!

Yeah, let's just go ahead and hit the 500 today. Maybe that will make the powers-that-be consider some amazing milestones for this one.
