Squids wrote:Look, I do agree with "to each his own". But, I hope that anyone that is really serious about their SampleTank set up or writing set up in general doesn't just assume these are "weak". That is WAY too vague a comment to slap on YEARS of work. I find it even offensive to be honest. Let's be real here. If you don't actually have these sounds then you really can't say can you?
Hey,

Sorry man if you thought my post was offensive. That was not the goal.

As I said, it's just about ACOUSTIC sounds. I'm really picky with that kind of sounds, because I'm disappointed most of the time with such "workstation" kind of sounds. Sure you have load of patches/presets with a small hard drive footprint, but I still think they lack of "richness" if it makes sense.

Trust me, I've tested most of the Sonik Capsules and such, in fact all the Gold ReFills for Reason you did, in that vein, so I know what I'm talking about.

So again that's just IMHO, and only about ACOUSTIC sounds (and electric basses and guitars).

That statement can also apply to Dimension Pro, SampleTank 2.5 XL, Hypersonic 2...

In fact, all the released workstation type of libraries, yet.

So again, I understand that some people may like it of course, and I would like to be one of them, but to my ears, well, no sorry. And, I say it again, there was no intention of hurting you about the years of work behind these samples.

Is that fair ;) ?

You will need to register the XT version and then you can just download the sounds if you'd like. However, it is recommended you install the new version which will update you to 2.5.4

Thanks!

We're over 200 now. Nice start, but let's get it going - the more registrations as early as possible, the more we can give the people that do get in. You know how we are with these group buys when they get big. T-RackS Singles Group Buy, anyone? :)

Ok, so I thought I had enough ePointz to maybe get another pack in this GB, but all my epointz are only on the Downloadable Soundz site? I thought they were available at both. A while back, I "combined" them into one site, but I didn't know it was going to remove any chance of using them on eSoundz. Is this deal available on downloadablesoundz.com?

And if it is, all I need is ONE SINGLE referral and there will be another entrant in the GB! So somebody use me as a referral when they buy, and I'll be able to up the number by one!!!

Your epointz should be available at esoundz.com and downloadablesoundz.com. Mine show up at both places.

However, I'm pretty sure you can't use epointz for group buys. That's been the longstanding "rule" (for lack of a better term).

That's what I thought. Then it was putting the eSoundz row in the checkout process as if it could apply. But I couldn't find my pointz. I just found them though, so I guess they aren't available.

Well, I guess we can forget about what I said above!

Of course, even if I don't get more involved than I already am, you can still use my name for referral! I would be ecstatic if anyone does!

I just checked out Vintage Keyboard Collection 2 (cause I'm an electric piano junky) and there's some good stuff on there. The LA Wurly and Rhodes patches are nice variations on what I already have. There really is a cool vintage vibe (no pun intended) on these patches. Then there's really cool stuff like the Tony Banks Watcher patches, an unexpected surprise with the Keybass patch, and the CP70 and 80. Needless to say, I'm very pleased. I've got a Rhodes Mark I and a Wurlitzer 120 and a bunch of sample libraries and PM VSTi's and I don't feel like this collection duplicates anything I already have.

I just finished downloading the vocal collection a while ago, and it's very cool. I was pleasantly surprised at the variety, as it helps to fill a massively untapped market of pop vocals very well. And a TON of beatbox stuff available for vocal beats.

Still working on it, but happy so far. Some very cool sounds in there! Mostly oohs and ahs but some hmmmms and others in there as well as some solo-ish type stuff, but not your typical big choir patches. These are almost all geared towards pop work and background vocals and pads(with effects applied, of course). Some Gregorian patches and some "Yeah" type of stuff in there, along with the rest. When I hear most of it, I hear an A Capella group singing. They will definitely find a way into my stuff!

You can't. But you CAN earn them when purchasing the group buy. Which by the way is here: http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?Prod ... ode=XT2KVR

This week we're going to announce some exclusive extras including a bonus library for people that already own Sampletank - but this is only if you buy it from esoundz.com on the link I just posted.

Nothing wrong with liking more detailed acoustic instrument samples. I like that too. But it'd be unrealistic to expect a huge variety of detailed larger sized instruments in a $50, 2 for 1 deal headed for a 3 for 1 library deal that also comes with a FREE full featured expandable sample engine such as SampleTank 2.5 (that normally sells on its own for $200+) and a 1 gigabyte taster sound set. There happen to be some beautiful acoustic instrument sounds within this rather large series as well - but of course everyone is entitled to their opinion and that IS down to personal taste. I'm not saying I like all of them equally but there are some real gems in there for me. The Martin 12 string, the Hammered Dulcimer, the Larivee 6 String with bend up notes, squeaks, slides and harmonics, the harmonium pump organs... all sorts of flavors and colors to work with. In fact, for a workstation there's more variety of acoustic and electric instruments than you normally find in say Hypersonic or others.

In any case, in context of this group buy which is all about building your own custom workstation sound collection... if one doesn't like the workstation-variety of sounds thing then I guess it's just not for them. But if one does... DON'T MISS IT!

Squids,

I'm really loving the demo (the first one of two) for SampleArp Solo (what prog rock fan wouldn't?)!!!

Some of the voices in that demo are Mellotron, aren't they? Does the solo mean that the collection is exclusively mono (lead) patches?

eDrummist (also my eSoundz name)

Yeah, in fact ONLY the solo sounds are Arp. The rest is just there for context. Lots of trons and fun drum sounds... I did that demo (I didn't do all the demos but you can usually pick out the ones I did...).

Bumped.
Two questions:

1) Could you give a quick primer on SampleTank versus XpansionTank and clarify the version numbers? I see versions 2 and 2.5. I assume that the XL, XL, and L suffixes on some of the esoundz product names have to do with the bundled library content.

2) Is SampleTank/XpansionTank usable with other sampled sounds? I have a couple of collections of wav files that I am having difficulty using and being able to easily map them into a sample player would be great. If not, any recommendations...

Thanks.

Well, Xpansion Tank 2 is a series of Sonic Reality libraries FOR SampleTank. But, it comes with SampleTank 2 XT for FREE! That is explained on the site but in short it is the FULL SampleTank 2.5 engine but with a custom 1 gigabyte of Sonic Reality sounds that are a taster of this 30 title Xpansion Tank 2 series.

SampleTank 2 XT is usable with other sampled sounds. You can import waves with it. It can even automap them if you put the name of the note where you want it to be mapped into the name of the wave file. But, apart from a few cool features like that it is not a full sampler with editing, mapping window etc. so it may or may not serve all needs there... but bringing in your own waves or other sounds so you can process through the rich filters and vintage-style effects... can be fun! For this price you might as well have this Swiss-Army Knife "rompler" in your set up. It's a staple piece in many people's rigs.
