So I guess you're in the right place, eh?

I found this to be an interesting thread.
Tried the Vandal demo. Not a game changer imo. I have AT3 but always on the lookout for the next big thing. Vandal isn't it to my ears. Sounds muffled to me. I just couldn't get a clear high end sound out of it. I'm one of those guys who relys on presets and would rather tweak sounds by choice than by necessity.
Does take less cpu which if, like me, you run Omnisphere, Superior drummer and Trilogy etc, Ram and cpu does make a difference. On the other hand, I wouldn't sacrifice sound quality for less cpu and in this case I would be doing just that so it's a no go for me.
One thing I like about AT3 over Vandal is that IKMultimedia put up some specific settings used to make some of the demos so what you hear that may have helped sell you on AT3 in the first place is what you get once you pay for it without having to do anything but plug your guitar in. That's a biggie for me. Nothing frustrates me more than to find out that I have to be able to tweak the hell out of the thing to get the same sound I heard on the demo. With Vandal, I felt that the sounds I heard on the demo was done right out of the box so it left me with the feeling that what I heard is not necessarily what "I" get unless I knew how to get it. Don't sell me on what the demo guy can do. What can I get right out the box. That sells me. I worked to buy the software. I don't want to have to work again for what I just heard.
On the positive side, there were a couple of presets I kind of liked and to Vandal's credit, I think it's quieter than AT3 for the most part. Some of AT3'S presets have so much noise going on I'm amazed they even put them in there. Some presets are so noisy it's stupid.
My decision not to buy Vandal is ultimately because I don't like the way it sounds so I wasn't hung up on whether the op had ulterior motives or not. The op's intentions quickly becomes moot once I've heard it for myself and it makes no difference how much he likes it if I don't. He drew attention to a new product. I just didn't happen to think it lived up to his hype.
Vandal may be right up somebody's alley but if I'm gonna buy another guitar sim, more of what I already have, it needs to be a game changer and Vandal isn't that for me.

Yes, but nothing to talk about - the OP's first post is more or less just a rephrase of what he wrote first about AT2 and then AT3 anyway - boy has got a new toy, gets all excited and then finally so confused as to think he's got some kind of valid&significant point and feels a sudden and unresistable urge to share it with all the rest of the world...

been there, done that - better to resist though and to at least wait a few days until the excitement drops down to some sane&stable level...

and meanwhile others are busy recording great sounding stuff using the Simulanalg Suite.

Well you should be proud of yourself "jens" first because your are one of those guys who can prejudice too fast about people and be proud of it ! well that's your first ability for sure, just like too many other people here that are sharing the same ability! you all can be proud of yourselves !
Moreover you think you are grown enough to not playing with toys anymore but what a pity that you just changed your game, I'm afraid while body grown enough the brain is still too young.

But your second ability which has made you a genius is that you (or those "OTHERS") are "busy recording great sounding stuff using "Simulanalog Suite" alone ! " wow what a genius to be honest, I did now know that people can get great sounding stuff using Simulanalog lol..

Anyway just FYI let me tell you that there are too many people included myself that are able to get that GREAT SOUNDING STUFF out of many and almost all the amp sims around included Simulanalog as well for ages and guess what! I do not count myself as one of THOSE busy genius people as well !

Seriously bro, don't be child, grow up or at least do not open your mouth when you don't know how to use it, indeed this time you do not have this ability to use your mouth in an appropriate way so its better to keep it closed when you have no idea what you are talking about. That is the first lesson people like you should learn tbh.

Anyway I'm really disappointed here for there are too many non-adult brains and butt-holes dwelling in these forums and wasting people's time that I can not even count them.

Good luck though and don't worry be happy, it will pass soon whatever it is.. hehe
:hihi: :)

Oh forgot to say sorry for my bad English. as usuall its getting better though :)

Sage advice. Perhaps going forward you could model that behavior for us.

I vote this the least deserving overblown thread of the month so far.

I tried the demo again for a fresher perspective. I think I dislike it even more the second time. No clarity and very thin sounding to me. Stereo doesn't sound like stereo. Juts a big no for sure for me.

Overloading tracks into digital clipping = winner in terms of sound quality so far.

Farting into a kazoo, run through a 1000 watt bass stack = winner in terms of sound quality so far.

500 cats in heat clawing the backs of a herd of angry water buffalo = winner in terms of sound quality so far.

There...see how easy that is?

I think everyone deserves to have their own thread like this.

Probably running fresh beatz through the Magix Vandal while thinking up what new password scheme to announce to everyone in his next free loops thread.

Aside from being sick of this whiningassed thread - I tried Vandal again but it seems to crash frequently in Reaper and Sonar 8.5 and I still contend that Amp Modeler Pro (Studio Devil) and AT 3 are better all around sound-wise for High-Gain. For clean and "chorusy" ballad stuff I LOVE WAVES GTR, and AT 3.
Now the proud owner of an avid 11 Rack, Running Pro Tools 10.3.3 - for me it's heaven!
