In all seriousness: I don't think it's usually quite easy to say what's 'better' - it all depends so much on your tastes, on what music you make and on how comfortable you feel and how successful you are when tweaking the tools for your personal needs.

(That's why having a one 'boutique' amp like Flying Haggis or Vandal can be a better thing than having a myriad of emulations like AT - it of course can also be the other way around.)

I for example can't currently imagine any situation where I would need a guitar sound similar to the one you're so proud of here... it's just too far away from what I do and like. And I could never be arsed to go through the procedure you described (even if I had enough mics, which I surely haven't )

Well Jens, it seems you forgot some of your own sentences here all music and all tastes and all the ideas we are sharing here are toward our FEELING ofc, all these technologies are going to help us produce better sounding music, right ? BTW I would like to be in an agreement with you ofc but it seems YOU DO NOT WANT to be in an agreement with me to be honest

I never said that I'm going to share some ACTUAL INFORMATION with people, And even if I did it sometime unconsciously(which I doubt) I did not mean to bring out PROOFS, it was just opinions from a musician, not a pro audio. I did not develop and code the program, so I think it is impossible for most of us to do that, BUT I can judge the program and its sound quality by my ears. and if it pleases my ears I will get conclusion that this one can help me better, this one can generate better sound quality and so on.. and I DEFINITELY believe that these are important, because even the AT FANBOIZ or GR FANBOIZ and too many other people out there are comparing and sharing their opinion about amp sims in a same way, judging by their ears. we are not sound engineers, we are MUSICIANS, and this forum as far as I know is both for PRO AUDIO people as well as MUSICIANS.

By the way, even if you still believe all these sharing ideas and judgments about our feeling and taste towards different programs is wrong, you could present your ideas and even complains in a better way, using better words, more appropriate words.. Am I right ? Using the words "euphoria" "toy" "rephrase" (why would I rephrase really? there is no actual reason for me to support some specific program, honestly I believe my ears can change through time, my taste also will change and so my main amp sim could change as well EDIT - *And while I still believe TASTES can be different and can change ofc, I also believe that the Actual sound quality of some programs for instances Amp Sims can be better than the others in a comparison TO MY EARS*).

So using the words like the ones above won't make you a either a musician, professional or even a good guy who wants to be useful and helpful in the forum to be honest.

You can stop the innocent act, it's coming off as bull sh!t. Saying you have a preference for the tone of Vandal is fine, I have no problem with that. I think my first post in this tread said, "To each their own..." However, what you did was to declare a definitive "winner" which, as a philosophy student you should realize that since tastes are subjective that's impossible. You might want to hit those books a little harder. Also, your "poor me" act smells like poop when you cut down a dev's technology as being a simple filter. No agenda? Please. Have you ever written a line of code beyond "Hello World"? It's really hard. Frankly I suck at it and I have great respect for any dev that can code a functioning VST.

To Hink: I probably shouldn't have used the word "marginal" as it has bad connotations. Not to me though. I spend most of my life there. I have lots of unpopular opinions and I'm really glad we live in a world where a dev can make something that doesn't follow "the leader" and instead creates something from a pure vision. Anyway, my point was that declaring something a "winner" that doesn't have universal appeal is a short sighted. Declare it "your favorite" amp sim. There's no shame in that. But winner denotes there is a loser and if you're calling my beloved Amplitube a loser than I'm coming out swinging.

What would the point be? It's unlikely you've got the same setup and playing style. There's a nice free demo download though that'll give you a much better idea of the sound than someone's posted clip.

Well Zerocrossing, you did not answered my questions, you just quoted a small part of my post for some obvious reasons . secondly you are acting just like an uneducated person here, well it seems you still need to learn where and when to open your mouth, and its not an easy lesson in life for many people, so I'm not surprised to be honest. BTW, I STILL believe the Vandal is the Winner in the terms of sound quality, THAT IS MY OPINION, and as I said before in my previous post :

So as you can see and probably understand That is my opinion and I have all the rights to share it. and you can discuss about it or be against it, that is up to you, But I doubt you ever had a healthy discussion experience with people around you, as your FANBOI symptom is getting worse each and everyday, and I'm sure the AT or whatever is not the only thing you are FANBOI for, your mentality is based on that symptom unfortunately.. I hope I could explain the point with my bad English though.

Moreover, just FYI, before uni I was an IT guy and still am, I have my MCSD and MCSE certificates yet, and I was professional mostly on Microsoft platforms, both operating systems and programming languages platform such as .NET. I used to code all the time in an object oriented manner, in C, VB, java, Delphi and so on, my main focus was on network applications, windows sockets, client and servers, network security programming and com+ programming, I'm familiar enough with almost all the programming languages and stages as I have been working and coding for a long time, though I may forgot so many things about programming as it was my old way of earning money but it does not mean that I suck in programming just like you as you said it yourself. Well to be honest with you I do not think a "Fanboi" could be ever a good programmer . Well We probably could discuss the code itself if the program was open-source and we could have access to the actual source code.

So here I put an end for this funny discussion, we are discussing crap instead of the actual subject of the thread. So from now you can ramble here and bring all your LOGICAL and PHILOSOPHICAL facts which only a FANBOI can bring. So as I said before, grow up, stop calling yourself Fanboi or well you are free to keep wasting your time and people's time here as long as you want.

Funny how people keep coming back to a thread and object to the thread continuing. Unlike the yahoo stock boards I frequent, there is no ignore feature so the other obvious option is to just walk away if you're tired of it and those of us who don't happen to be tired of it will continue to respond if we want to. Doesn't mean the thread should end until it does when ALL interest wanes.
I personally found it interesting. Maybe choosing the thread you want to read instead of repeatedly coming back to one you're sick of would make more sense. Then everybody would be happy. jmho.

Well said dblock, +1000. And I think returning back to the main subject of the thread which is about amp sims and especially Vandal is more logical than wasting time on some not very important things tbh. Though as I experienced in this forum, there are too many people here that just want to FIGHT and show off their "FANBOINESS" of this and that product, so the best way to return to main subject is to PUT AN END to the FUNNY DISCUSSION and Ignore the FIGHTS. well people can continue FIGHTING with me or anyone, but sorry I won't respond anymore. and from now on I'm going to discuss only about the main subject of this thread, AMP SIMS.
