:hihi: Yep, some American, some Italian and some Swiss (the previous owner was a nephew of mine who used it when he was working in Switzerland) :P

They are good, especially in terms of durability of the various parts - I had a couple of Fiat cars before this one and they spent most of the time in my mechanic's hands... This one "is a tractor," as we say over here, meaning it never breaks down :)

Bedtime for me, goodnight!!

To the topic:
How are you guys forced the bastard not to sound like a tin can? The only good example I heard was Himalaya's demo. Not sure I can pull off something worthy after hearing those 6 mins'o'goodness :D

Just accept the boxy-ness of StringZ2. It's part of its character...

Nahkranoth, Stringz2 is a lot of fun.

Stringz2 definitely seems easier to work with than Gargoyle (another Krakli synth, from last October's contest) did. This Stringz2 has a lot of character; in that regard it's similar to Gargoyle; but that's where the similarities end.

I have removed Stringz from a my vst folder. It's not synth, it's horror. (((

Рекомендую послушать следующее демо и изменить мнение об этом синте:
http://www.krakli.co.uk/music/himalayaStringZ2demo1.mp3
Самый яд где-то на 1:15 и 3:30 :D
Нужно только заставить гада звучать, и в этом как раз проблема

(Nahkranoth, please, translate it for all)
1) это наколенная поделка в synthedit, роняющая хост при каждом чихе (проблема с multiple instances, да)
2) мне так и не удалось убрать (противное) вибрато в ноль. Другие параметры ведут себя так же странно.

I can't translate it to be as beautiful as the original, but it was about it being a cheap stuff that crashes host at a sneeze, that Steplton was unable to turn off the vibrato completely and the other parameters' strange behavior.

[EDIT] To witness for Stringz2 - it can sound beautiful in the right hands tho :D

Who knows, it could have resulted in an interesting track... :P
Too bad :(

I have always called StringZ2 my 'marmite' synth, which to those in the know, means that you either hate it or love it..

Nothing in this thread has changed my opinion about that :D

The thing that needs to be grasped about StringZ2 (and other instruments of its ilk) is that it is all about how you play it in real-time. If you took the basic sound and entered notes in a step sequencer, all with identical velocity values it would sound cheap crappy and more than likely unpleasent. The reason that Himalaya's demos sound so good is that he 'caresses' the thing, and coaxes sound colours out of it in real-time.

The other thing to bear in mind is that there are no conventional controls on this, even the filters don't always behave as you'd expect..
I described the way that this works once as akin to kicking an amp with an inbuilt spring reverb then taking that THDONNNGGGG sound (patent pending) and taming it or- kicking it really softly really quickly, loads of times in succession.

but.. it is ubersensitive to change.. play a note in succesion as you move the keyscale controls (bearing in mind that they will only affect the next note that you play) the slightest movement can change the sound dramatically, so you can set it up that two adjacent notes behave completely differently (if you wanted to).

I am really pleased to see another Krakli plug used as a candidate for the O.S.C. and it is in the spirit of the comp to pick those that are a little more inaccesible.. I must admit though that I am a little suprised that nobody has yet chosen to try and do a more ochestral piece.. anyways, Good luck to all the contestants..

Well, I love Krakli synths but they dont like either my PC, Fl studio and or XP Pro x64 :( So, sadly I'm out of this OSC

The really sad thing is that I think Stringz2 needs no FX at all!
I do hate irony :bang:

Oh well, I'll do the next OSC.

I will of course vote on this one :D

Later kids 8)
