Yesterday I was composing some backing tracks with the demo to jam along with my guitar...
Please include NOTATION for midi composition/input.
Also it would be quite nice if one could use its drums/percussion plug ins in the drums sampler, or in a drum sampler like fashion.
Thanks.

I don't think you will ever get this with energyXT2 - a shame but I just can't see it ever happening.pc999 wrote:Yesterday I was composing some backing tracks with the demo to jam along with my guitar...

You could use www.noteflight.com to compose with notation though (it's free and VEY good) and export MIDI/audio from it to import into XT2.

I hope they surprise us, see Mixcraft 5, they did it, if they almost had me, but they still have a few problems to work out and less features. Plus with so many guys without electronic/DAW background now getting eXT with behringer products they could really use it IMO. No need to be a top of the line notation program, just make the input in score with keys and the like plus printing.hudson_m4000 wrote:I don't think you will ever get this with energyXT2 - a shame but I just can't see it ever happening.pc999 wrote:Yesterday I was composing some backing tracks with the demo to jam along with my guitar...

Anyway the more guys (we) express their need the more chances of getting it.
BTW thanks for that program I didn't know it. Not a very friendly of workflow, I will keep it in mind if I dont find any alternatives.
Overall eXT seems a nice program, sure it does have its problems but this one really kill the momentum.

Another option is either Melody Assistant or Harmony Assistant from www.myriad-online.com - both very good value with a more 'traditional' interface, although I really do like the noteflight way of working once you get used to it - worth reading through the online help to learn basics of how editing control works.pc999 wrote:I hope they surprise us, see Mixcraft 5, they did it, if they almost had me, but they still have a few problems to work out and less features. Thanks for the extra info. That will help.
It still a pety that eXT cant do it by itself, it seems one of the easier to use, that would make it even easier.

My FRs right now:
-Automation tracks "à la XT1", independent from midi parts.
-Tracks (active synths, for live playing) selectable from mixer.
-Markers' dropdown accessible also from mixer view. And/or ...
-... assignment of markers to QWERTY keyboard would be great.

Tux Guitar (http://tuxguitar.herac.com.ar/) is also a freeware open source software useful for scoring standard music notation and guitar tab as well as allowing MIDI import/export.hudson_m4000 wrote:I don't think you will ever get this with energyXT2 - a shame but I just can't see it ever happening.pc999 wrote:Yesterday I was composing some backing tracks with the demo to jam along with my guitar...

Methinks I'll too check out the Noteflight when I get home from work.

notation in xt? I don't see that happening ...
what energy xt would give a real competitive edge is proper live mode. you could even throw away all the other stuff and it still would be selling

FRs:
====
MIDI
----
- Show a note's position in the "note inspector bar" or whatever it's called. It already shows length, I think it wouldn't be difficult at all to add position. This is actually a very important feature for me; Cubase and Reason have this, and I use it all the time in these hosts.
- Be able to open drum patterns like you can with other MIDI patterns in their own windows. Right now, if the sequencer is zoomed out to a fair degree, you have to zoom in to really see the drum pattern elements, then make your changes, then zoom out again. Also, seeing the note's position in the note inspector bar would be great (see above).
Drum Machine
------------
- Be able to preview a wave directly on the wave looping-editor screen.
Bug Reports:
============
- External MIDI events (MIDI keyboard, etc.) don't register when "Show Markers" is active in the sequencer.

And while on the subject of audio import/export, I ask two feature requests: I'd like to drag several sound files from XT's browser (I can do that from the Windows' file explorer) and I'd love it to export group tracks as well. It already outputs sends, which is kinda handy for certain situations, but the group busses is where a lot of auditive magic happens.

Well, I wish eXT2 had a "Thoughts-Capture-Modus" or whatever you would call it, you know, you have a musical idea and tsack, eXT2 automatically captures and translates your idea into musical data. And to complete the "Upload to SoundCloud", an "Upload to TopTen Charts" would be very handy.
OK, enough of stupidity.
TEMPO: variable/fractional tempo and tempo track; set tempo from event...
MIDI: Some Functions and Logical presets like in (cough, cough) Cubase (please have mercy on me). Well, I have to add here that I am an ex-Cubase to eXT2 converted pagan.
MIXER: an overload/peak red or striped rosa-blue
colored LED, so that I don't have to insert an extra plugin for this purpose (poor, poor me).
Well, I think I can survive without all the above, but keep bug fixing and stability.
Long live king Jørgen

Why can't we play the keyboard while using loop markers (and I mean an instrument loaded in a track without any MIDI content)? Or select a track as the active one in the mixer view? Or...
Fortunately the XT team has not been iddle, giving us "top features" like the mentioned SoundCloud upload"

That is also annoying. But might have an enlightning explanation, I hope!Ja.x wrote:Why can't we play the keyboard while using loop markers (and I mean an instrument loaded in a track without any MIDI content)? Or select a track as the active one in the mixer view? Or...
