He is just doing his job. To stay in business, and secure the jobs of the company employees, and meet the obligations to investors, the boss must insure a competitor cannot catch up, or move ahead. The boss tells people what to do. They do it well, and everyone makes money. In this case, the competition will need innovations, and cost cutting, which will help you and I to have more choices and lower prices in the future.Nokenoku wrote:Wow .. they're really some capitalistic bastards.eduardo_b wrote:It seems that Apple is betting the store on the iPad and iPhone. I'm still here, and I am definitely thinking about doing something exactly like that! I just need to figure out how to conveniently let people import samples into an iPad app and get the results out of it.pquenin wrote:Brambos, if you are still here, what do you think of Tuareg 2 and Tunafish on the iPad ??????????
Ofcourse it also doesn't help that Apple has not announced a releasedate or a price for it (I'll probably just go to Germany or France to pick one up).

I think that the iPad is great, and I'm ready to make apps for it, but it seems that you must have a mac with osx to use the SDK : is it true ??

Your musical applications have a special "touch" : they are simple but yet powerfull, and focused on the interaction with the user.
So I think your way to design tools match the iPad paradigm.
You have bought a Mac to use the SDK ???

Yes, I bought a simple Mac Mini for it (a very modest C2D 1.83GHz with 2Gb ram and only 80Gb HDD, but it runs XCode and the iPhone emulator like a dream). You get the development environment (XCode + Interface Builder) for free with OSX (it's on the DVD) and it's a beautiful tool. It's definitely easier to get to grips with than Microsoft Visual Studio. You have bought a Mac to use the SDK ???
The whole thing didn't cost me much, and I'm really starting to appreciate the elegance of OSX. I can see myself making the switch to OSX for my everyday computing as well in due time.

Impressive piece of work, but somehow I doubt that running 8000 lines of JavaScript code in a browser will prove to be a viable alternative to native flash.Optomadic wrote:As I was saying, heres flash for Mobile Safari.Optomadic wrote:generalstargazer wrote:... saying it will 'never be on the Ipad' is an invitation for some smart hacker kid to do just that. But after years of happy browsing on the iPhone I can safely say that I don't need Flash to experience the web. Actually, I can do without Flash pretty well so no biggy for me.

When the ipad was announced I thought it sounded like the dumbest idea ever. What would I possibly want a very underpowered computer for.
I guess what I didn't realize is that they already have the touchscreen nailed. From videos of the ipad piano keyboards I would have never thought things would have been that responsive.
You can shit on it all you want but both you and I will be buying one in the next decade without question.
