Some comments from the Appcelerator guys on page 2
Apparently they're confident their tools will get the seal of approval from Jobs

Gives his view on the Adobe problem as well.

I'm hoping for a good tablet from HP, now that Carly "Devil Sheep" Fiorina is out of their hair.

Speaking of which, did you see that story about escaped convicts who eluded police by wearing stolen sheep-skins?

I recommend boots with rubber soles.

Well, if the 2% simulation accuracy missing does not turn out to be a show stopper, and the SDK terms interpretation of Appcelerator's CEO is correct, then I can't see any tools like that pose any problems, as long as it outputs xcode. And as long as it doesn't include other libraries in the xcode.

Indeed. I wonder if we'll see something more cross-platform like this turn up in applications like Unity (which already has similar emulation in its iPhone version, but you need to be on an Intel Mac to run it.)

Erm.. no it doesn't.
Your arguing that OSX is open and that Apple does not require validation of programs? And that one can use whatever hardware they wish?
OSX is open, yes. I can write software for it and run it. Anyone can, and using many different available tools and languages as well.

And in theory you can run OSX on any hardware you want to, although not without hack or extra hardware.
An article for spaceman to read regarding my above points (yes this topic is old, but I found this interesting article today regarding these very same topics)

As an Apple fanboy I need to live up to my name.
Here's Apple's first vocal response to Adobe's attacks on banning Flash:
"Someone has it backwards--it is HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and H.264 (all supported by the iPhone and iPad) that are open and standard, while Adobe's Flash is closed and proprietary,"

Ouch! what a short and concise answer! never really thought of it this way.

given that there are actually 3rd-party flash compilers and players, and the Open Screen project, its quite misleading. it might be a proprietry standard, but its not that closed, really, nor is it locked to a specific set of tools.

so its a bit hypocritical to start talking about 'proprietry' especially given the 'you can only use our compilers' revision to the developer agreement. now that is closed and proprietry requirements.

BTW that guy might want to take H.264 out of his claim:
"In countries where patents on software algorithms are upheld, vendors and commercial users of products which make use of H.264/AVC are expected to pay patent licensing royalties for the patented technology[8] that their products use."
