Is 2C's Aether REALLY worth it? (the answer is: yes, certainly)

Your path with a component inside the package or when its uncompressed with the installer could be too long. Rename the uncompressed folder to a short name like "2C" and all is working.
People where the localized folder names are longer then the English names should have this problems.

It would help to reorganize the package and remove the nested "2C-Aether-PC-Demo" folder.
I tried both (moved the package to the root of a drive and renamed it to a shorter name) both is working.

Hope this helps ;)

I thought you mentioned it a couple pages back, when you said the public release was set for today.

Andrew,

I installed the 1.5 update. When I ran the installer it just updated my 32 bit vst. It did not give me an option to where I would like the 64 bit installed. Am I supposed to just copy the 64 bit dll to my 64 bit vst folder? Any help would be great!

I wanted to tell you why I bought Aether last week. In true KVR fashion, I told myself I didn't need another verb.

I've been using Arts Acoustic Reverb as my go to verb since around the time the first Aether was released. Naturally, I didn't fancy buying another reverb at the time (I'd just forked out "all that cash"). So I just forgot about Aether and never really checked it out with any real enthusiasm. At this point I want to say that I still love AAR, I always have and I always will. However, plugin monogamy has never been my thing :hihi:

I've since mastered using Arts Acosutic Reverb and was considering some different flavors of verb. I own Reverberate, CSR, Toraverb and the wonderful EOS (which I bought to demo/figure out the hype and ended up in ). I'm covered for convolution. I consider the latter 3 character verbs in that they definitely color the sound in some way. I like each one's individual style and I try to use them all for their particular strength; which brings me onto Aether...

Does Aether even have a particular strength? I'm finding it hard to find one. This is why I bought Aether; it can do it all. I don't think any reverb I own can be as transparent as Aether. It can have a really natural sound; something hard to come by in a algorithmic verb. Yet Aether can be colorful and dense too. It can do the spacey, ambient, super-duper long tail stuff. It can do the modulated EMT style sound. For me, where Aether sets itself apart are the tail shaping and spacial controls. I'm still getting my head around what I'm actually doing. I don't know what I'm doing, but I like the result. Hopefully I'll have it nailed soon.

The latest update sealed the deal for me. I wasn't all to keen on the first Aether GUI. I found it distracting; like a needy child wanting for attention. The new one is a massive improvement to me and now it isn't attention seeking I can see how it makes total sense from a design POV. Regarding oversampling: in most plugins I don't notice much of a difference when I turn oversampling on so I've never thought of it as much of a big deal. However, with Aether/reverb it seems to make a substantial difference. I can actually hear how it makes the tail smoother and clearer. At highest setting I don't think I've heard anything as smooth that doesn't (I tried to avoid saying this ) come rack fitted, with a lexicon logo on the front.

Aether is brilliant! :hail:

I was reading, thinking these guys are getting a bit carried away. It's just a VST after all. I'm getting a few Sax Fills together using SaxLab 2. While I was reading, I decided to stick the Aether Sax Hall presets on it and f*ck me, well it sounds fantastic. I literally jumped back from my Monitors. I wasn't expecting that!!! :)
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Expect the unexpected. :)

how do you install the 64 bit version?

anyone?

Post

Our installer attempts to determine the correct folder paths for your system automatically. However there are many possible host and OS configurations these days and you may have customized the locations of these folders at some point. Therefore, please be sure that the default folder paths chosen by our installer for BOTH the 32bit and 64bit versions are correct for your specific system. If they are not, please enter them manually using the Browse button and navigating to the proper folder locations.
how do you install the 64 bit version? where is this browse button?

i got it....

you have to deleate the old instalation...

could have put that right in the installer. im happy that it auto knows where to put everything but it should let you know unless you deleate the 2c folder it will go strait to update...
