Your quote is now unaltered.

EDIT: Dangit...how do I always end up at the top of the page?

Ok IK and SR. Time for a SampleTank drum module that allows indivdual samples to be routed to separate outputs, sends note names to the host etc..................:hihi:

There are some nice drum sounds in the XT and XL libraries but it kind of limits you to the outputs unless I'm missing something..........

There is a bit of a workaround. Load up the same kit several times into a combi, use the range feature to isolate a particular drum or drums and send them to an output. A bit kludgy but at least you get the kick, snare, hats and toms etc on their own channels.

Why use the range function if it's all MIDI-triggered?

I'm sorry? Perhaps I don't understand.

Use the range function so you don't trigger the same note more than once...............so a drum or drums can be sent to a separate channel for processing.

Here's a combi but you'll need the drums that come with the XT content:

I know. I just meant that when you program your MIDI parts, you just need to be careful which notes you use. Just seems a little faster than programming ranges but then again, if it works well for you, don't change it.

I put a link above.

But how do you send one layer to more than one set of outputs and how do you tell it which drum goes to what set of outs?

EDIT: I'm talking about all on one Midi channel.

So I want to send the kick to mixer channels 1+2 the snare to 3+4 etc..............

Sorry for hijacking...counts as a bump. :hihi:

I must have missed that part. Sorry about that and for the hijacking.

All bumps are good. Seems we're picking up a touch of speed again but need more if this is to hit 6x1 or whatever it has potential to.

Squids mentioned thirty places, I think I find less than 20. Any other posts being made? Pictures of people on the side of the road with sandwich boards on that say "USE MOOR SAMPLETANK SOUNDZ"? How's the word getting out?

I have ST XL from a previous group buy throug Esoundz from a year or two ago. How much overlap will there be with the Xpansion Tanks from this group buy to the XL content I already have? I am specifically wondering about the amount of overlap with OmniSynth.

Also, as part of that group buy I got some extra Xpansion Tanks at the time, including Symphonic Strings AND Sonic Strings (I think those were the names)and a Piano Expansion Tank. (Don't recall the exact name).

Do I understand correctly that those will pretty much overlap the Symphony Strings 2 and Piano Collection 2 from this Group Buy and, thus, those would NOT be wise choices for me. Is that right?

This seems like a good deal -- and I'm not complaining! But it seems largely targeted to new users and is a bit of a chore for someone from past group buys to figure out if it makes sense for them and, especially, how to maximize value and choose wisely. Answers to above would help me with this...thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to look at the Sounds Lists on the IKMM Xpansion Tanks Multisamples page and compare the patch names listed there with those that you already have in your current products.

Then you can assess the extent of any overlap and make more informed decisions about which Xpansions are right for you. That's what I've done.

HTH.
Darkstar -- thanks for the suggestion. I have limitations in terms of using the studio computer (which has ST) for research etc. -- which I am forced to do away from the studio on a different computer. And I wouldn't want to breach my user license by putting ST on a second computer!

Plus, to be honest, I find navigating comprehensive lists of patches in ST to be user-unfriendly. It's not so much a problem when looking for an individual patch...but it becomes a challenge to compare comprehensive lists. Perhaps you know of a location on the hard drive (I'm on MAC) where one can view entire patch lists in a straightforward format in a way that lines up with the lists of the new Expanson Tanks as they are presented on the IK website?

Honestly, I am still hoping someone (Squids/Peter?) who knows the answers to my questions as I posed them -- might simply be kind enough to provide them. :)

I don't frequent too many places and they're all covered. Perhaps a bump at the Synapse forum.
