What's with the copy/paste of the speakers over and over again on the one pic? And a dangling baby? But the Yamaha CS6R is sweet though.

The CS6R is a nice piece. Also has a DX7 card in it and a PC editor/librarian.
Didn't notice the Prophet5 I guess? Don't see too many of those around these days.

I had the DX7 card. I sold it and got a TG77 instead. Much better investment with having the DX7 sounds as well as all the lovely SY77/TG77 sounds. It's of one of the best FM synths Yammy ever made.

I noticed the CS6R because it sticks out like a sore thumb; white synth in a dark room. That, and I have one sitting in my rack too waiting to be sold to someone. Nice synth, but not a keeper, to me. At least it does have breath controll input; a rare feature. The room is so dark, it was hard to train-spot the other synths. Duh, I should have seen the big honkin' Sequencial Circuits badge on the front, but then again, I have never owned a P5, but I do own a CS6R.

Read some about it..i'm interested. A music shop near me has a TG77 on the shelf for like forever. I'll go and see if it's still there. :* )

I expect the LCD screen will be dull and inherently difficult to use. Can you recommend a PC parameter editor Devon, for patch creation and editing?
The one I have for the CS6R goes down deep..i'd like to have as many parameters at my control as possible with an editor. Cubase, i'm sure will handlethe TG77's patch library, so that part is covered.
I know about the TG99 as well. I'll gab that if the shop has one.

I do have to say, I still dig the CS6R..maybe it's ignorance of better synths like it out there. For being a PCM generator, you can really get some wild sounds if you do spend some time in the editor. I use it mostly for acoustic sounds. It's really extremely versatile, I think.

You're right about the backlight on the screen. Just make sure if it is dim that it doens't whine like crazy. Out of the three I've had, one was REALLY bad with the constant noise of the screen. However, there are replacement backlight kits for the TG77 that you can purchase. In fact, the TG77 I have was completely refurbished. Aside from a very few minor scratches on the face, all the buttons were re-alligned, my battery was replaced, the labels on each key is clean and visible, the backlight was replaced, and it was thorughly cleaned out of dust bunnies. She is a beauty, and I love her so.

Patch librarians? Nope. I have somehting like 4000+ presets for it, so it's not of great concern for me for editing honestly.

What a mess! I love it

I like how you have random equipment stacked on a bookcase that you actually use.

My mess is a very sacred thing. Random test equipment, half assembled projects and miles of cable live all over my apartment. Luckily my wife is nerdy enough to tolerate all of the wires. At least I got an actual table for our TV to replace the other TV it used to sit on.

Ha! My wife always says, "Can't you do all that without all the ugly wires?" Funny. She tried to encourage me to get nice looking furniture for all of it but what a waste, eh? It's beautiful to me.

This made me think of why I found KVR. It was because I was about to lose my studio and be relegated to sharing a room with my wife. I figured it was going to be all soft synths and headphones. Whew! Dodged that bullet! Now I have the soft synths and the gear! FUN.

Or that there are no tables or a desk. The copy/paste room is another place from 2002. I set that desk up here at first. But in this large room it was easy to hear all the comb reflections from the desk, so I went desk free.

The whole work station rolls forward and out of the way of the sound field. The vid mons and monitor mixer swing back and away also. I designed it this way for the best acoustics, without modes and combing.
I've yet to utilize these features...and I guess I never will...i'm moving to a smaller location in a month or 2.

If the thread subject were "Show your gear" I would have started shooting gear. For me, it's about this studio, the sound and the atmosphere.

I noticed you are missing a knob there on that strat......is it fancy wiring or just a one tone one volume thing??

I had one of the tone knobs removed and the remaining knob rewired as a master control for all 3 pickups. Right now there is a small metal plug where the hole used to be but I am having a custom pick-guard made that only has 2 holes.

I know right?! In that picture, I've already scattered nic-nacs around to make it feel more like home but it's still missing something. I need a half-smoked joint on the desk and many more cables strewn about, but we're getting there. I'm just happy to have my own room again as opposed to hallway/dining room/studio.

How are you liking that Biscuit? I came close to getting one before I bought the SH-2. Now I hear Todd is gonna update the WTPA? to have some of the same features. Too bad he can't add an analog filter via firmware update.
