Is 2C's Aether REALLY worth it? (the answer is: yes, certainly)

Now that both Aether 1.5 and the presets have been released, wouldn't it be a good time to replace this long and winding thread with an official one?

Post

Gotta get those presets, this plugin worths milions... and can take milions of presets!

It looks bad to have a dysfunctional forum with the last posts
over a year old.
Or move it here since there's quite some Aether users here and we're always up for discussions. :)

I just want to say that I truly appreciate the amount of work, effort, passion and creativity that you've put into Aether 1.0 and 1.5, Andrew. It's designers like you who incite change into the entire musical software industry for the better.
As I am beginning to wrap my head around this incredibly deep (instrument?) plugin, I can see myself growing with Aether for years to come an it most likely becoming staple in my aural arsenal. I look forward to the new manual and learning even more about what is possible with this sublime piece of kit.

Thanks Andrew. I really appreciate your efforts. Great presets btw. The Creativity bunch is exactly what I hoped it would be. :)

This new version looks very promissing, but my main question before any demo testing-is it capable of surround processing or not?

Aether isn't designed as a surround processor, but I've managed to use Plogue's Bidule to create both a dual stereo and a quad instance surround plugin with Aether that I use with surround projects in Nuendo.

These work quite well, but they're obviously CPU heavy (I should try rendering on max quality to see how long that would take!). A proper surround version of Aether would be awesome!

Post

Its a pity becouse there are many good sounding stereo reverbs, but proper and good sounding surround reverbs are still very rare.So it looks I should stay with Pristine space and some good surround IRs.

I did a little comparison of Aether and Lexicon Native Reverb on acoustic guitar. Here is the link:

The price is the killer for me with Aether.

If I didn't have any other verbs, then it'd be worth it.

But, like many others, I have top verbs already.

Maybe not the same as Aether, but $250 is still a lot of money when viewed in this context.
