So it looks like it may be more than just a registry issue. I hope that isn't the case. From the changelist, it didn't seem like anything that would warrant breaking support for Win98(SE)... but what do I know?
Download 1.07 ? ( see if it runs )and just replace the dll ( with 1.08 )?

EDIT: to remove the cool icon and replace it with an 8.

Thanks for the banks and pranks! And thank Synth1's Author, I thought he had been sent to the land of wind and ghosts.

My name is Ichiro Toda(daichi). I am a developer of Synth1. Thank you for having you use Synth1. I am tempted into Teksonik now and write in it at this forum.
I intend to update it steadily in future.
I will sometimes write in it at this forum.
I am sorry, but I please do not ask a too difficult question because I am weak in English. :(
I use the automatic translation.
Daichi ! It is an honor to see you here! Thank you so much for Synth 1. It has given many people much pleasure over the years. :D

Sore wa, Synth1 no domo arigato gosaimasu.

(hope my basic japanese is still... "fine")
It's fine. :)

Except it's "hajimemashite", as far as I know ;)

Ah, always thought I was wrong on the "saying thank you" part. It's long ago that I actually learned basics of the Japanese language, hence the typo (found both versions on google btw).

Anyway, good to know that I didn't offend anybody, heh. :D

It's possible he might not understand the roman letter version of Japanese either.
He might only read Kanji.

Posting in an epic thread.

Wow, this is so unexpected!

I haven't read through this whole thread yet but I wonder if Daichi really understands how loved his Synth 1 is?

Welcome!

Post

Thanks Daichi for the Excellent and Free Synth1

He should, methinks. It is considered a part of being literate. You must know around 5000 kanji to be moderately literate, what's the problem to learn 25 more letters? :P

Oh? Didn't know.
What's the one letter they don't use seeing as they learn 25?
Chinese is the same too, but only need to learn about 2500 characters-Han Zi to be literate.
Too bad the Synth1 website is blocked here. I can't dl the update.
I did get on it about 3 years ago, not now though.

I was afraid to open the 11th bank, afraid I would wake up from a dream,
or break it somehow. When I saw the news post, I thought it was odd a hoax would make it to the main kvr newspage. But its real, and as the mouse glides over the 68 banks atop the screen, the contents of each bank appears, jogging the memory, and putting over
8000 sounds right before your eyes in seconds. 8) :-o 8)

Imagine if Native Instruments had coders implementing useful features like
Ichira Toda just did, instead of creating 5 minute long absynth presets.

Great update! Many sonic jewels are being discovered :)

MajorBloodnok wrote:Synth1 KVR One Synth Challenge one month; first update to Synth1 for 4 years the next month? Conincidence? I don't think so.
Actually there's a computer music magazine here in Japan which has a monthly column on programming sounds with Synth1... so I say it's mere coincidence as I'm sure Mr. Toda is well aware that his synth is still getting plenty of attention... :tu:
