These let you shift each mic in time to up to 25ms and offers for a vast palette of new sound textures. That can range from slight phasing artifacts to a complete twist of the cab sound. And you can easily create convincing stereo effects this way (engineers call this the 'Haas effect'). The old 'mic phase +/-' switches were replaced by simple push buttons to flip either phase, as we needed to save space. What was of minor importance before (the phase), can now have a dramatic impact in conjunction with the added delays.
That's great. This should go a long ways towards addressing one of my criticisms, which was the lack of control over the miking technique/recording environment. This should allow users to simulate a miking distance of up to ~25 feet/8 metres.

Great news sascha, I was waiting for this update :). Thanks for updating an already great product, everything is great about Vandal, especially that wonderful tone, and except the MIDI and probably some minor visual enhancement I do not see personally any need for changing any other thing visually to be honest, I prefer the UI to be as minimal as possible with easy access to all the options on the main screen just like the current UI with Vandal. :)

Cheers

I'm dense today, I can't find the demo download. Is there a link to it or is it not available yet? I went to the official grayish site, but I couldn't see it.

But you should see it at the left bottom of the page anyway.

After spending a couple hours with this thing, I have to admit...I'm impressed.
I have Amplitube 3 and the Fender Amplitube and like them both but there are some great sounds in the Vandal plug. Really like the crunchy rhythm stuff and the screaming leads.

It takes a while to get used to and there is no big list of presets to cruise. There are several hidden screens that are crucial.

I like the overdrive pedals better than the Amplitube 3 ones (which I consequently never use.)

The distortion sounds are creamy and tight. I like em.

Amplitube Fender would still be my go to plug for most of the stuff I do (pretty clean stuff) but I could see this as being a nice addition.

Hmmmm...to buy or not to buy....that is the question...

Duh! Thanks a bunch. I only went to the german site, didn't realize there was an english site, and I got lost among all the german :P

Well, actually not months, just weeks, I guess... ;) Well, sorry for that.
[And I was on holidays after the release, and my clone had these wake-up-after-standby issues, just as my Mac...]

We're in the process of finalising v1.103, which is the code state of the PC-VST and the Samplitude version (Sam 11.1 is around the corner). Looks good so far.
There were a couple of annoying bugs, such as the Reaper 'knob movement crash' (due to Reaper's undo architecture), as well as some midi-related showstoppers. Things are fixed now, Vandal now responds as it should with Midi (). I've reworked parts of the parameter & midi architecture, as I noticed my architecture had a few serious weaknesses.
The new 'mic delay' feature is also now ready to rock (see sig's blog below).

That said, I'll start moving the now greatly matured code on to the mac next week, and then do some final tests.
We'd like to synchronize the PC & Mac update here, and ensure both platforms have an identical code base. That's why it took a bit longer.
I'll keep everybody updated on that.

Thanks,
Sascha

Thanks Sascha,

I'm enjoying Vandal a lot.
Very well done.

Don't ask me, I just play here.

@ sasha:

After reorganizing the internals of your plug and porting it to the mac, take the final challenge for vandal v2:

Close the quality gap between vandal and the axe fx.

It can be the first software only modeller which gets there. You are close to it, nearly there. (Now continously improve it! It worths it)

Thanks for vandal V1. :)

Well, though I don't own any of those AX FX devices thingy yet, I was reading some very great reviews about it recently, and finally I had the opportunity to play with one of them for couple of hours, almost whole afternoon with this AXE FX Ultra thingy, and I have to say while the clean and crunch quality was superb, but again I had the same problem with AXE FX as I have with almost all the other amp sims, nothing was THAT great imho in AXE FX, except the clean sounds which had a somehow wonderful clarity. But honestly I liked more the distortion and crunch tone I get from Vandal than AXE FX. they seems more focused and tight, plus that ON THE FACE aspect in Vandal. Well tastes are different, but because I have own and used almost all the amps sims in the market, I could not recognize any OBVIOUS and TOO DIFFERENT tone in AXE FX, there are some good tone and some bad tones, but nothing very special to my ears. However I have to play more with that thingy for the final decision, but so far I will never pay that much money for the sounds I have heard.

Cheers :)

So is there a version with working MIDI available for trial or purchase now? This is great news. :)

And has this been tested with a host other than SAM?
