It would seem keel here might be able to help translate some things.
Maybe?

DragonSagoth wrote:@crimsonwarlock - you can name the banks already, although it's a bit more tedious to do. You have to rename the soundbank folder AND the registry entry...
Ah... ok. It would be handy if Synth1 would just load the bank name from the folder-name it points to.
CrimsonWarlock aka TechnoGremlin, Moved to Reason and Rack Extensions exclusively (from Reaper and VSTs) several years ago.

Synth1 is one of my best synth.
I feel very happy to see new version 8)

I except for Synth1 to be able to load Skin.
If we can script XML or something for its GUI, it would be nice.

Oh My God.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this thread. I knew it had to be real because no one should play a prank this cruel. This is historical--only second to Oskari Tammelin's return to Jeskola Buss after 8 years and lost source code.

My name is Ichiro Toda(daichi). I am a developer of Synth1. Thank you for having you use Synth1. I am tempted into Teksonik now and write in it at this forum.
I intend to update it steadily in future.
I will sometimes write in it at this forum.
I am sorry, but I please do not ask a too difficult question because I am weak in English. :(
I use the automatic translation.
Toda-San, you are a legend in the VST world. A very big welcome to you. You might not know this, but for many years, we the users of Synth1 have wished for you to appear. Many of us tried to contact you but never got any response. You were like a ghost--the mysterious Ichiro Toda that no one can find.

Quick questions: Were you aware that many people were trying to contact you? Did you know about KVRaudio.com? Why did you choose to appear now?

Synth1 is one of the most beloved softsynths on the planet, and its legendary status is firmly cemented into the history of software synths. Many people learned how to program synths with it and still use it often (including me) even though there are big name commercial synths available. Thank you so much for creating it and deciding to continue its development!

It's wonderful to know that you will now continue to develop Synth1. Those of us who have been using it for all these years definitely have our wish list, and no doubt you will be bombarded with them.

For myself, I just want to be able to bind more parameters to the modwheel, not just the LFO. More modulation/routing choices/parameters would be nice too, but that will probably change Synth1 too much, as most people love Synth1 because it's so simple. There's no reason to change it into a big modular monster.

Built-in reverb would definitely be nice, so we don't have to rely on the Tempo Delay. I would also LOVE to see a comb filter. A more sophisticated step-sequenced arpeggiator would be awesome too (like the one in Rob Papen's Albino). OK, I'll stop now--we're getting greedy. :D

When you said you'll add layers, do you mean each oscillator will become independent and have their own modulation settings?

I was thinking more like Albino type of layers. You know, multitimbral stuff. ;)

I think he may be crushed in piled-up replies :hihi:
probably he need well-defined feature requests in simple sentence.

I suggest to use colored font for the concrete suggestions if you have.
like bellow:

I don't mind helping with some translation but keep in mind I can't keep bugging my wife with this
This synth jargon is apparently not easy to translate either

To add to that, maybe mark your feature requests with this sentence:

I have just sent him a PM with my wishes, which are purely GUI concerned:

dbz wrote:I just tried running it without using "initsettings", just to see what would happen. It turns out, nothing happens. The dll doesn't seem to even load into the host program. So it looks like it may be more than just a registry issue. I hope that isn't the case. From the changelist, it didn't seem like anything that would warrant breaking support for Win98(SE)... but what do I know?
Download 1.07 ? ( see if it runs )and just replace the dll ( with 1.08 )?
I just gave that a try, but it didn't work. Is there anyway for this to work on Win98(SE)? I understand it if there's a major change to the sound engine (using SSE, etc.), but what happened? Talk about getting good news and bad news all at the same time.
