Just to give you an idea why the octave divider emulation is important for the sound of a string machine plugin (and why it can not be done with samples), here are two MP3 examples of notes played in octave interval (without chorus).
Listen carefully:
- another (free) emulation (no phase sync)
- Cromina (true octave divider emulation)

I am looking forward to it. The divider emu is illustrative of your point as well.

Got a bit carried away with the demo... Here's a rough minute with three instances of the plug alongside Drumaxx on the drums and SQ8L on the bass: mp3-link over here http://file.shareyourfiles.net/EHTF3a/f/file.php
--- I think the noisebursts fit the mood of the track, eh? ;)

Maybe not shown in that little tune.. I think it's rudely underestimating, when people will call this lush - the plugin is more than that, I say abundantly voluptuous. I personally got a 'thing' for this kind of stringsound, gotta just love it. There's more character, emotion and sweat to this than to the average zillion gigabyte orchestral library. And now I've got a whole ensemble of this kind of instruments..

There's plenty of soundsculpting possibility provided. It can do even a piano kind of sound very easily (I wonder if there would be some kind hammer there beating the envelope, could this be transformed into a electric piano..). And if the provided effects aren't enough, stick WOK's Stringchorus on top of this and it's a done deal. My hands are itching to get the full version to be tweaked. ;)

After third instance though I started getting stuck notes on the bass side; might have been my computer's fault, as I had been upgrading Windows and not booting in between.

Looking forward to it for sure.. I'll still be keeping this demo as well for the sake of the surprise effect of that noise.

Well, the CPU load of this plug in fact can not be called low - this is because of the emulation of the octave divider and the special filtering. On my dual core 2Ghz it uses up to 20% depending on the number of notes played (long realease time increases it). I will try to improve this in future versions, if the interest for this plugin is high enough.

That synth sounds excellent !
If you're into 70's strings pads, be sure to gice it a try :)

It does a good job for sure
just a couple of things tho-
volume is a tad low for my preference and the phaser wont work for me, just a long high tone when it is engaged , is that a demo restriction?

No. I had this probem with the phaser one time when dialing the phaser knobs too fast, but normally it should work.
The volume I might increase in an update - but when all sounds in the full version are used together with phaser and delay it nearly overdrives the output already.

WOK -- it sounds fantastic. Instant "Oxygene/Equinoxe"!

Now for the bad news...

I got it on the first and only instance. With the Bass switch on, bass notes don't release. I can change the bass note but I can't make all bass notes stop.

Also, with one instance of Cromina loaded, I closed REAPER and got a message box indicating that REAPER had crashed. I repeated this test and got the same result.

This does not happen here, so I need some more info:
- demo version or full version?
- which Windows, which service pack ?
- if Win7/Vista, did you follow the extra Readme.txt?
- any MIDI effects/CC messages used?
- any changes at the MIDI channels (standard is 1)?
- does the red lamp under master fader go off after MIDI notes are finished?

Demo

- which Windows, which service pack ?
Windows XP SP2

- if Win7/Vista, did you follow the extra Readme.txt?
Not applicable

No

No

I'll check later; I'm not at my DAW now. However, there are no issues with the treble notes.

Also, I believe the REAPER version is 3.10 (not the most current, but only a few months old).

First, the good news -- with Cromina loaded, I closed REAPER several times and there were no crashes.

The lamp goes on when I press the first note and does not shut off after releasing the note. It doesn't matter if it's a bass or treble note (I used the first patch "Strings Standard", which has Bass enabled). However, only bass notes stay on after releasing them; treble notes are fine.

edit: even I could not reproduce this bug I did a change about the MIDI and hope it's working now (demo and full version updated at the familiar download pages)

Updated demo and full version - volume master fader can now be cranked up beyond the old maximum. There is a marker for the old maximum to avoid overdrive when all sounds are on.
