I realize there are differences in the reverb aspects of these plugins but in his case, I'm talking strictly for loading guitar cab impulses. I can always use separate reverb plugins.
I have some cabinet responses but wasn't sure how much difference what you use to load them in makes. I'm using a free one called keFir now. but If there's a better one with minimal cpu usage, I'd check it out.
Can these things compromise the impulse response quality or does it matter? Can you recommend the (in your opinion) best impulse loaders? I'm using a pc.

There's at least one more; called Poulin (LePou) Cabinet Simulator. You might find that it gives you more control over your sound.

But, it seems to me at least that keFIR requires less CPU.

LeCab is sweet but Kefir works great too - in Kefir just make sure your MIX is @ 100%

Hi dblock!

There should be very little difference, although it is possible to hear slight changes on occasion when importing the same IR into different convolution 'engines'.

There can be a difference, over at the Synthmaker forum, everybody's been tinkering with convolution there, Ronald Passion took the original version and changed it, to sound like KeFir.

I A/B'ed the 2 versions, one was more trebly by far. I don't think anyone's used these in an SM plug yet except Acmebargig.

Ronald Passion. If he makes a passive massive eq, I bought it.I guess if he changes his convolution to sound like KeFir,that's an endorsement for KeFir.

Our new convolution routines do not use any of matti's code. We did base some parts of Redshift and tribe on it though, But the upgrades to these will contain our new convolvers, and most likely our new zero latency convolver as well. The new code convolver can be heard in Shred 1.06. The newest freeware version of Shred 1.5x(still in beta) allows you the ability to load your own IR's, and we plan on releasing the Cabs and room modeling as a stand alone Cabinet Plug...

You should find that you're able to get most convolvers to null if you get the settings exactly the same, it just then comes down to the features you prefer in the various products. For instance Reverberate (which can do zero latency) has a built-in chorus, you may like using that with your cabinet presets, it could be useful to store presets with things like a chorus to increase the speed of your workflow once you find a bunch of internal effects that go well with your favourite cabinet IRs.

...but I got an incredible sound with LeCab + C15 (AcmeBarGig)

dblock, this is the latest beta of Shred is has quite a few cabinet options for you..
Modeled, Internal, external, and also natively handles the Redwirez Cabinet library..
