eDrummist wrote:I have a question regarding the "Vocal Collection" multi-sample library. I'm looking for something for rock background vocals -- kind of Beatle-esque oohhs, ahhss and laas background vocals.

I remember Squids once talking about recording a session a long time ago with, I believe it was, former members of Jellyfish to make this kind of library. I was hoping Squids or someone who has this library could give some insights as to whether this library has those samples and point me to a relevant demo, if one exists? And if this library is not appropriate, is there another SR library that fits the bill? (FTR, I have searched eSoundz carefully before posting this question.)

Thanks,
eDrummist
Among the many vocalists we sampled for this are Roger Manning (formerly of Jellyfish, Beck, Imperial Drag...) and Jason Scheff (lead singer of the band Chicago). There are also some British singers, French and Italian opera singers and American Rock singers that do a lot of sessions and gigs in LA and even Hip Hop DJ Beatboxers. There's also a guy who sounds a lot like Jon Anderson and Roger Hodgson and another guy who sounds a lot like Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel... Some nice textures in there beyond the typical generic oohs and ahhs. For the price you can't lose.

We are going to eventually release a massive vocal product for Infinite Player which has these singers discrete so you can mix in as many Rogers and Jasons as you want... and the other singers I mentioned. We might do a version of that for ST at some point as well... since it could be a good one with Stretch. But, for now, it is being developed in Kontakt format but the release date is unknown and I am forbidden to predict anymore since my ratio of incorrect projections is just too high... I can only tell you that we've been collecting vocal samples for YEARS with the intention to release an elaborate one with key switching syllables and sustains etc. In fact, we have quite a bit of choir material from the Miroslav archives that we own and at some point that will be released as part of this massive vocal thing I'm talking about... but it will be hundreds of dollars instead of like $10 in this so hardly apples with apples. In other words, definitely get this one - worth having IMO!

Thanks much, Squids and DrApostropheX for responding to my question. This group buy has become another crazy low price deal, so it's extremely compelling -- even for me, and I already have many of these multi-sampled libraries!

Squids, I would also love to see that massive vocal library for the Infinite Player. Beyond being able to tap into the very sophisticated capabilities of Kontakt, it's also a native 64 bit app, which is important for me. I'm kinda smiling from your hesitating to project a release date! But please, release it soon (and, at least, Trons in the IP format too!) and I'm sure it'll find it's way to some very happy customers, like me and many others.

Thanks,
eDrummist

Hey Squids, just a quick question...I bought the group buy on esoundz about 10 minutes ago and I don't see a serial in the user section yet. How long does this usually take to update? this is my first purchase on esoundz. Or...do you have to wait til May 31 (or June 1st) to get the stuff?

Great to hear it! Normally products purchased that are download on esoundz are instant by the way. But in this case, a group buy with IK, it is a little different. The page says you can wait up to 24 hours or at least until the next business day... that is the norm. However, Allen our support manager is really cool about checking in on weekends so it is likely it will appear in your esoundz member's area some time today! Enjoy the sounds! Thanks for getting it from www.esoundz.com

Thanks eDrummist for your kind words as well. Those things are coming! Can't say when but some sooner than one might think. ;)

Is the 500meg piano a confirmed option? :D

Well, I wrote "maybe" for now. But I am going to look into that possibly being an option. I will confirm some time next week for sure. But some of those others WILL be. Quite possibly all of them... that makes it a good idea if you're going to join more than once to do it on www.esoundz.com this way you could pick a different free bonus extra for each time you joined. I was going to mention this later but a few have suggested that I tell you guys NOW so you don't kick yourself later for not having joined on esoundz to get all that. More news coming, I just have to check on the status of certain sounds is all.

Sounds great if you're serious. So you already have a 500 meg Piano in ST format?

I guarantee that we'll get there.

I already have my sights set on 6x1, since there are exactly 6 packs that I really want.

This sounds very promising - as I commented earlier, there is obvious gap in the market concerning a high quality and versatile r&b/pop vocal library.
E.g. the use of key switches to develop different articulations, which is commonly used with many instrument libraries, can bring many useful tones and nuances to the use of vocal libraries.

If I notice correctly, there are already some Sampletank based vocal samples which use key switches, see the demo

where in the end of clip "Oh ba-by" in the last syllable is added some rustines. I'm I right - and is this library with articulations available for the clients?

Well, I wrote "maybe" for now...
Make it one of those upright or antique pianos, and I'm in!!!

Or one of those Ken Scott pianos! I could sure use a better Beatley piano.

You could also make one the options the option to select an additional Xpansion Pack... although brand new bonuses are always welcome.

just wondering the best way to use sampletank set up in ableton to play/record various drum loops from the loop library sets through a song..
eg loopA=verse loopB=chorus ..etc.?
are there any links to tutorials for this sort of thing?

will they have to be on seperate layers/different tracks?
Is it just easiest to render them to wav files and work from there?
thanks
