Your preferred method of copy protection? (poll)

It seems there have been recent topics of copy protection again so I figured a simplified poll for preference would be good to show what is really preferred overall (at least by KVR members). You can argue and debate all day, but the numbers speak louder.

I voted serial number, but actually I could equally have voted dongle as I don't really give a snot if it's keyfile or dongle equally. I was tempted to vote dongle, but I suppose ever so marginally, I prefer a keyfile to dongle, although to me - the CD or piece of paper or whatever that holds the keyfile is the same as a dongle - if I lose the number I'm equally as screwed as if I lose a dongle. What I prefer is just be able to buy a piece of s/w and load up and go with none of the above. But that ain't gonna happen unfortunately.

That's fine, I just think that if you only had one option that would be the one to vote for.

none of the above, all of the above, whatever it takes...copy protection is out of my control and I roll with the punches so I can't vote

That's right, you're not the one who makes the final call, but you can state your preference.

YAY!!111!1one!!!1
Another copy protection thread
You do know that in between my witty and insightful comments I'm happily banging away at various musical endeavors without actually worrying about CP right? (though I really hate TT's copy protection

this just in, I decided to dig deeper into this issue, as luck would have it I sent my buddy Carter down to the local bar where him and Leach hang out and the had hired an out of work dongle as a bartender. So Carter ordered a beer and they have decided to to do a series of interviews with the dongle to get the dongle's perspective.

I voted for Serial, but C/R from big companies like NI is ok too.
As far as "prefered" goes, in my case I "insist" on no dongle, Pace or eLicenser.
Maybe I'm different, but I switch between projects way too much, but still like them to open promptly.
I refuse to wait around while all these different drivers load, scan my PC etc, and then permit the software I paid for, operate.
In the end, the developers miss out on my cash (RP anyone)...
Anyway, off to play with my brand new copy of Aether.

Amazing! It looks just like the anecdotal conclusion I came to in the other thread!

You have no proof. Polls are not accurate. People in studios all over the world....(ok, I'll stop now)lagavulin16 wrote:Amazing! It looks just like the anecdotal conclusion I came to in the other thread!

Dongle. No contest.
Seriously, are we still discussing this non-topic? This is even less interesting to talk about than Mac vs. PC vs. Linux vs. Chumby.
