Line 6 has been out of the race for a while. They haven't brought anything new to the table since podfarm was released, and podfarm wasn't that groundbreaking.... But I still like some of the effects (The delay selection is still great) and use it on sends these days.

GR has some fun effects, but NI needs to step up if they want to be considered as a serious contender.

TH1 was my number 1 ampsim until AT3 (actually AT fender change alot for me)came along. The IR module along with some great IRs can get you a very very good tone.

AT3 is really the king of tone ATM. Is it perfect? absolutly no, but it gets better and better.

You know, I do like their hardware. I have a POD X3 PRO, and it just seems to sound different than running the plugins on my PC. I don't know how to explain it, but the exact same patches just sound more "alive" running on the hardware! Plugin wise, I love AT3 the best, but also use the freeware ones quite a bit (Acme, Lepou, TSX, Nick Crowe...all great stuff!).

I've had a Vetta since they came out, and while a lot of it was good, it all ended with me going back to a tube amp, and micing it.... Still the best sound, if you know what to do with it. AT3 is closer than anything ATM, and is great for rehearsing at home, and making those late night noodelings....

...BTW Nick Crowes stuff is also good for high gain, if you have some good cab IR's. Recabinets stuff comes to mind.

...But sill. I do prefere my VHT Sig X with a Heil Pr30 and a Ribbon in front of it......

The thing is though there are some really great spacey clips on their website.

Yes, and those sounds are really fun, but the raw amp sound is not on pair with something like AT3.
The delays are really great.
Some of the synth guitar stuff is fun.

But if you have a couple great delays all ready, then it gets harder to justify getting podfarm. I LOVE u'he's mfm2 on guitar. It can get really trippy in no time. As for reverb, then there are much better reverbs than line 6. The modulation effects are nice but sums to mono, which isn't really great all the time.

What I do love is the interface of gearbox. It was brilliant. I'm not crazy about the Podfarm interface.
