No, but I do think we're fumbling away a golden opportunity for new updates and possible new directions here!

Updates I'd like to see (in order of importance):

All of the Effect and FM section controls controllable with Mod Wheel.

An added LFO1 Attack or Delay control - meaning the modulation could be set to affect the signal at a given preset delayed time.

Filter Track control capable of positive AND negative values.

Speed and Amount values made visible in the LFO1 Wheel Sens section (the values now fall off the GUI screen).

A more advanced Arpeggiator - or even better, a 16 step sequencer.

A Pan control for the Delay section.

I would REALLY love separate amplitude ADSR controls for each oscillator, but that may be asking too much!

These are the updates requests that come to my mind. :)

OMG What are you guys doing? You all know that the person we've been trying so hard to contact for years--the person who's trying to understand this thread is already having a very hard time due to the language barrier, yet you guys are posting all kinds of unrelated and irrelevant stuff to further confuse him?

Why is it always so hard to stay on topic at KVR? Threads always devolve into unrelated and irrelevant banter and bickering or just random crap. It's like the entire KVR demographic has sever ADD or something. :bang:

Oh sorry.
I apologize on everyones behalf, including my own for acting like clowns in an Opera House.

I'm sure that he will try to do what he can to update Synth1. As he stated earlier he could not do many of the requested updating ideas for various reasons.
Maybe it would be good if he had a company backing him up on an idea for a new synth, and see something really new, from a prodigy like synth designer-coder.

SciFiArtMan posted some great ideas for an update.

Post

I Never thought Synth1 would ever get updated again! If anything I thought it was going to go Open-Source for someone else to mess with. I guess Not. But it's Great to see the Developer still has interest in it. 8)

why not just be grateful for what you got or go and spend some money on a commercial synth? You're all like spoilt kids at Christmas :x

I've give it one more try today and I quite like it.

The GUI is a bit outdated, but it produces nice, usable sounds IMO

Nice synth ;)

Hey that's not called for as the dev just came out in this very thread and promised steady updates.

The way everyone is saying 'I want this, I want that' is like watching a petulant 5 year old in the sweet shop, when he already has a pocketful of candy. I would expect more mature behaviour from people here. Maybe I was brought up differently to you, i.e. with manners?

I have to agree with some of the comments and ask that we show some restraint and dignity in this thread. There are few people in this field that I respect as much as Ichiro Toda and it just seems rude to treat his first thread as just another KVR thread.

We can argue about the sound of Synth1 1......love it or not........but I think we will all agree that Synth 1 remains one of the most brilliantly coded bits of software ever to carry the name VSTi. I first started using it on a Duron 850 and could run four instances with no problem. Some synths at the time wouldn't even run on that system. Couple it's amazingly low cpu demand with rock solid stability and a sound I happen to love and Synth 1 remains my number one freeware plugin of all time and ranks in my top ten plugins freeware or commercial.

I'm not as much concerned about additions to Synth1. I want to see what someone who can write such tight code can do with a whole new synth from the ground up. I'd love for Ichiro to create a new commercial synth and be rewarded for his efforts.

So I'm a sentimental old fool but I ask that we treat this thread as if we were in in Church and not in the corner Pub. :D

You tell us all off and compare us to children, and then boast about your good manners? :?

In a plugin update thread on a discussion part of a plugin site where the dev has promised steady updates on the plugin, discussing what kind of updates you would like to see to the plugin is about as close to the mark as you can get. This is not a church for worshipping and praising people and as for the most offputting of all in threads it's probably a sour tone..

Seriously though, there's a lot of love for synth1 out there, it's been around for a long time and is still able to do many things well at a low cpu overhead.
Given that the developer is here (which is something I never thought I'd see) and a non english speaker all I'm saying is lets keep things simple. I'm not telling y'all what to do but if I was on a russian forum (for example) and didn't speak the language having to wade through 20+ pages trying to find the relevant information might put me off the task altogether.

That said ;) so there might be a possibility my gui might see the light of day?!

Yeah, I know I'm going change the knobs ;)
