This looks very interesting:

NOTION SLE for Miroslav Philharmonik is a special version of NOTION - the first notation software program that integrates powerful notation tools into your Miroslav Philharmonik orchestral workstation instruments and articulations. The first of its kind, NOTION SLE for Miroslav Philharmonik truly bridges the gap between composing, notation and real-time audio playback and performance
€69, $89 plus taxes (might blow my jampoints)

More info here:

-- also a version that works with Vienna Special Edition and Special Edition PLUS Standard and Extended Libraries.

I'm just waiting for the EWQLSO version then I'm buying (although lately I've been thinking about getting the full/complete version of Notion).

I just viewed the videos on the IK site.
This looks good.

One thing I was wondering is does it support midi?
Will it make a midi piano roll of the score so that final tweaking of expression and humanization of the parts can be done to eliminate the mechanical feel?

Sounds like it! From IK's website:
IK Multimedia website wrote: Plus, NOTION SLE for Miroslav Philharmonik offers full MIDI recording options with Step Time, Real Time, MIDI Out and MIDI import / export.
I think I will be picking this up for sure...sounds like a no brainer! Plus, gives me something to use up my jampoints on!

The real time tempo changing is what got me interested.

You can compose or (if it works with midi as it seems it does) play in the parts to a click and then you can create the slowing and speeding up to get the feel you want.

There is a demo of Notion here:

The features that you are montioning seem to be N tempo and the feature to adjust notes sounding lengths separately (press TAB to see)

I believe most of the N3 features are available in the SLE version except for loading other VSTi's and the not inclusion of the Notion library:

astinov: on Notion Forum wrote:NOTION SLE stands for NOTION Single Library Edition. It is a series of downloadable affordable notation/playback tools designed to work for a specific VST library. NOTION SLE includes all of NOTION3 features with the exception of the bundled London Symphony Orchestra library and support for additional VST libraries (outside of the library it was designed for)

The first NOTION SLE edition is NOTION SLE for Vienna Special Edition. It is designed to work with VSL's Special Edition libraries and features over 100 instrument presets for Vienna Instruments, Vienna Ensemble and Vienna Ensemble Pro. For more information about NOTION SLE for VSL Special Edition, please check the products page. Video tutorials and feature overviews are available.

We've got four videos posted:

Score Setup:
Full Orchestra:
Demo Score:

This is indeed a very cool product, and I admit when we first were talking about it/hearing about it I thought it was mainly for people who write out their scores (or use notation software, etc) but with the MIDI features it is a really powerful tool for many more folks than I had thought. It was something I naturally wanted as my training is heavy on composition but I also admit lately I've been playing more than writing so this is a superb tool IMO.

And yes, I'm biased, but in talking about NOTION's general functionality I'd still rave about it regardless of what it was attached to.

Peter, those are great! Loved watching the Full Orchestra one, nice clear narration as well.

Thanks. I'm really excited about this, yet it seems to be the "softest" release/promo we've got going :) Go figure. Definitely worth a look, and I know there has been a lot of Miroslav Philharmonik attention around lately too so people really should look at this. It is dirt cheap too, and you can use JamPoints buying through us.

Edit, should that be "most pianissimo" instead of "softest"? Based on the orchestral nature of this AND being that we're an Italian company? :)

Post

Anybody using this yet? Thoughts? I was even pleasantly surprised when I started using it. I don't know what I like more - the traditional composition/notation tools or the MIDI components that really make the workflow very modern.

Post

Hmm,

I've just been pointed at this thread:

I think Nalpeiron may use the MBR to protect from unauthorized cloning of a hard-drive, thus preventing "ghosting" of licenses.
Nalpeiron is the copy-protection used by Notion 3. If indeed it is writing to the MBR or I cannot do an image backup of my disk, including MBR, then I've got to pass this by. I hope that I have misunderstood.

Does this support the classik version?

Post

I'd certainly wait for verification that it doesn't just possibly happen on a single bootloader/imaging product though. I will keep an eye on that post too, but so far it doesn't seem to be a trackable reproducible issue.

This is for the full version as is uses all the sounds possible for a more full scoring/orchestra experience.

Thanks for the info Peter. Is there a crossgrade to the full Philharmonok?
