But we're making the selection larger and are going to include some of the Xpansion Tank titles in the list as well that you can download from esoundz. Plus we're putting a grand prize for all that join at esoundz if it reaches 5,000 to raise the deal on IK once more... basically, just get it from www.esoundz.com and you'll be happy. Get it twice and you'll be even happier. I know that's vague and I will provide more specifics very soon. Right now we're working to get everything together for download by May 15th. That is when the extras can be chosen.

Some brass would be really nice! Pop, rock, bluesy sort of stuff.

I will gladly post them when I am done (basically tweaking the existing child presets to my own liking- increasing the volume where needed- adding some tube warmth- fixing sustain- enabling stretch where it sounds better). Where could one post it that would be accessable to everyone that wants it?
Hey JavaJ... that's awesome. I don't have the answer as to where you should post them. But I will be very pleased to get copies of your child presets when they are ready, and thank you for your generosity.

Any chance you are going to do the same thing with the Vocal Pack? I was actually going to ask you if you were willing to share your Vocal Pack child presets, since I gathered that you would definitely be doing some volume and stretch customization of those ones.

Once again, I encourage child preset names which begin with the name of the parent. I often add a simple summary of the main change to the preset as well. So "Vocal Oh Ah" might become "Vocal Oh Ah (stretch, pb12)" if I had applied stretch and changed the pitch bender range to 12. I'm sure you are developing your own convention. The most important thing is to avoid names which risk orphaning the children, because at some point you may want to grab all your favorite presets and put them in a separate folder.

Very curious to see what changes you make to the Cinematik Pack. Will look forward to auditioning them. :-)
zoiks- sorry- I mean to say Vocal Pack- I am doing this with the vocal pack (and only the the normal voices- not that beatbox stuff as those appear to be mostly good).
Thank you for the advice- I am not sure how to name them so I have been adding "JavaJ" to the original name- i.e. Vocal Oohs JavaJ. I wasn't sure if there was a standard naming convention- I would think your example might not work if I enable Stretch, add a Tube, fix sustain, etc- maybe I can have my own "flava"- everyone will flock to get the sound of JavaJ :hihi:

That's good too! I was going to suggest that, but I wasn't sure you necessarily wanted to have your own handle on all of the patches. But that's totally fine -- better even. :-)

Child presets will only be orphaned if you move the 3 files that make up the parent to another location without also moving the child presets from the original folder.

Therefore, you are much more likely to remember which children belong to which parents if you keep the first two words the same for the childrens name. In other words, if there are two different parents called "Blue Vocals Ahhh" and "Blue Vocals Ohhh", you probably want to use the full name plus JavaJ so that it will be obvious that "Blue Vocals Ahhh JavaJ" goes with the first parent. And it looks like you are doing that already.

You can make the decision on a case by case basis. Sometimes there are no other parents with similar names so you could get away with something like "Blue Variation Vocals" or something, since it will still remain right beside the parents in the folder (when viewed as a list). But that's still probably not the best practise.

Also keep in mind that you can change the file names of the presets outside of SampleTank. So if you suddenly wanted to add a word or symbol to all your child presets after creating them, you could just change them by changing the file names in whatever folder they are stored. SampleTank keeps track of them by using a special ID number that is embedded in the file. So don't make a second copy or duplicate them within your SampleTank library, or you will have presets with ID conflicts.

I'll look forward to getting the sound of JavaJ! ;-)

But no rush. Take your time!

Cinematik Collection
Hip Hop Instruments
World Instruments

Then I have some extra "child" patches for ya.
I noticed that many of the patch names in the Cinematik Collection are the same as the Film Orchestra I and II libraries, so I tried matching up these "child" patches and am happy to report all but 15 of them worked!

Hope Squids won't mind, but I've taken the liberty of saving the patches in a new zip file for anyone who took part in the Film Orchestra group buy...

Is there a manual on deeper sound editing within Sample Tank XT. I know it may appear obvious after working with it for awhile- but it would be good to know exactly how sounds are impacted (like in proper use of Stretch). I am used to the documentation that NI gives and is very helpful (some may say not). I am curious as to the Tube variety in the Tone effect (I preferred Tube 5 for most of my patch conversions but found that Tube 1 worked well one specific sounds)- is there a list of what each tube correlates to? I am hoping to make some smart updates to the child presets in the Vocal collection (maybe the Cinemtatik) instead of just "what sounds good to me on my system". I imagine that some of my updates may not sound right on a different set of speakers (I may over-compensate for someting that will sound horrible elsewhere). So any guides would be helpful.

I predict we will be at 2500 by Wednesday- hopefully I am proven wrong.

The only guide is the SampleTank User Manual.

Section 7.3 explains more about STRETCH.

IKMM is not specific about the models in the Tone FX.

And here's another zip file for the World Instruments, for those who took part in the World Instruments group buy 6 years ago :)

Although many of the parent patch names appear to be the same between the old and new collections, only a handful of the "child" patches work - specifically in the SR Ethnic Instruments and SR World T Bonus Material ST2 folders. Still worth having though!

Oh well, time to take the plunge and choose my 4 libraries and hope I don't buy any duplicates to libraries I already have (ha ha). Wish me luck :D
