Hey guys, we are going to be having a public beta very soon for our new Shred suite...This time however, we only want to release it to a known amount of people. This is because we are still getting support questions for the really old Shred 1.02PB1 that we released here. I don't actually mind anyone distributing this stuff after all its freeware, but, really all the requests we're getting for the old stuff is already fixed in the new stuff. We are finding that people have taken the download and are offering the older versions still at their own website...So, now we want to know who we're giving the new one too...And, anyone who wants to distribute the released version IS encouraged to do so, we have no problem with that, but to still be offering the public beta version 1.02 as a released finished product kinda screws us up a little. So, if you want to distribute, please do so we appreciate the help, but, let us give you the link, and, if you want to get in on the Public beta, please email me and we'll hook you up ASAP...

I hope that does not sound like I'm whining..If I am somebody pass me the damn cheese please! :)

Great guys...

The way we're going to communicate though is through group emails, so I need you guys to write me an email so I can add you to the list...Don't worry I won't sell them to a Penis enlargement company or anything...We are keeping them for our public beta only...Unless, Shred does not sell, then we're going into making penis enlargement devices ourselves...New company will be called APE! Acme Penial Enlargements Inc...

hmmm? I wonder how hard it would be to get beta testers for that, and, what kind of flaws it may exhibit...haha...Guy goes to the Emergency ward, "Doc...I can't shut the thing off...It just kept telling me there was a fatal exception!
I tried to set the knob for 12 and as I was turning it, it stuttered and jumped to 36! Now it won't shut off!"

Man that sounds terrible!

haha

Nevermind...another 26 hour development session...I'm an idiot!

lol

You got it, man! ..can't wait to hear this new Shred!

Post

Ken, let me guess, you make the penis larger by boosting it heavily then clipping it at the top so that it squares out at maximum amplification? Truly a genius at P-DSP programming...

Man uncanny!! That exactly the design spec for our first model called the Bobbit 1.3x!

Hi, just dropped by. Can I join in the beta test?
I have 2 PCs with Reapers on them. One is an old AMD Sempron, and the other (my primary daw) is an even older Athlon XP. Maybe I'm lucky and I can bring home my prime PC.
Please send me a PM!

Anyone can join it...Its open to all ABG forum members...
got to our forums and join. Then when available I'll be placing a download link there.

However, we are not running the public beta as of yet. We still have some things to iron out. Mainly safety features. We want to ensure no volume spikes no matter what configuration you have set up..

I can't test right now, but I'm just curious...how did the polls go? Will Shred get the Duncan Tone Stack Calculator import feature?

Post

I have started the implementation of it. Currently have the Marshall done, and working on the VOX right now. I want to support all the tonestacks in the Duncan Tonestack Calculator...Even the Big Muff..:) Once I get further along with it we'll see how accurate it is and if I can make it accurate enough for Rock and Roll then we'll go with it...Its not meant as a scientific tool anyways, but as another option for you to craft your sound...

Seems very interesting!

Post

Yes, it does seem like an interesting addition - unique, innovative! No matter how accurate, a different tone stack only goes so far....but then again, out of the 1000 different amps modeled in some sims, 990 of them are probably really the other ten with different tone stacks and a fresh GUI! :)

Post

So, basically it'll look like:
I choose and prepare the preamp, I select the tone stack, then I choose the power amp?

Well the way Shred works now is a little different to Shred 1.06. You still choose the "knobs" that represent poweramp and gain staging. You can also select things like input profile which in terms of a real world amp would represent things like Cathode bypass capacitors..(well sort of). This selection limits or boosts frequencies into the gain staging. It was our way of allowing you access to some of these settings without you having to tweak a million things or have the combined knowledge of every tube guru in the world..:)

So all that functionality will remain the same, what will differ is the tone stack knob selections...It may become 100% file driven. So you may no longer select individual knobs, but load whole tonestacks created with the TSC 1.3. In Shred 1.06 you could select any single tone stack knob, this will no longer be the case as you will be able to custom craft your tonestack to its entirety. What you will be able to do as well though is take a tonestack from almost any amp and place it into any of the Shred heads. I can sort of see that as we move along in this people will hopefully start sharing their tone stack creations so that there will be a bunch of already made to choose from.

Whats further to this is what we're calling PACE. PACE is actually the reason that we are able to add this functionality in the first place. It dynamically alters the internal schematic based on your selection. So, say for example you have the Marvel loaded. Its default PACE setting is High Gain...which turns out to be sort of like a hot rodded JCM 2000. You can change that PACE setting and select something like Vintage. Vintage turns it into something sort of like the original JTM, Classic setting will make it more like a Plexi, and Modern Classic will make sound more like a JCM 800. Now to further alter the sound and test PACE...You can add a Bassman-ish Gainstage, a Vox-ish Tone stack, etc. PACE will alter the internals to suit your selections...Now...Without changing any of the knobs to different knobs...Select a different PACE setting..what is that head now? The short answer is we don't know! The number of combinations are astronomical...

Shred 1.5x...Man I can't wait till this thing is done!

KM

EDIT: I forgot to mention all this tweaking is 100% optional, for those that want to just load a head and go..Shred does that too...But for those that like to tweak and experiment, you can also Sign your head creations and save them as heads as well. They then just become part of the Shred interface and are loaded like any other head. You can also share them, they are your creations...

Also I'll see if I can get one of our beta testers to come over and talk to you guys. They can answer functional questions..I mean they use this thing a lot more than I do..:) They can easily point out the negatives too...
