I'm all for feature requests to better Synth1 but suggesting that all users that don't agree with your request should be locked into a version without updates is a bit selfish

Luckily you are not the one to decide :hihi:

Lucky indeed

But then none of us are in a position to decide the fate of synth1, are we?

Just for balance though, everytime I see "no new features for synth1" I'm genuinely suprised and a little dissapointed.
If some people believe the vsti is perfect as is, then just use the latest version and get out of the way.

I hope the dev does implement some more features that have been suggested, but if not, oh well I'll survive.

excellent work man, I spent hours playing with this and lost track of time lol :D

First of all, let me greet Daichi and say him thank you for this great synth I'm using on a daily basis !

While Synth1.07 - the one I used before today - was great, this new version is even better ! My humble congrats !

The "Num" parameter, just under the Unison on/off switch, already included in Synth1.10 IS that feature you're looking for (and that I was also looking for in the pervious synth1 version) ! You wanted it, it's already there ! Hooray !!!
hakey wrote:For those who haven't already tried it, I'd highly recommend running Synth1 through an oversampling extension such as Chris Walton's Oversampler:

http://sites.google.com/site/chrisrwalton/oversampler

It really makes a huge difference giving a cleaner sound with greatly reduced aliasing artifacts in the higher registers - the difference is particularly noticeable for FM patches. I certainly haven't got golden ears, or anything like, so, if I can hear an improvement, there's probably something to it.
Yep, and with this great plugin by Chris Walton makes - by side effects - Synth1 even better (and also removes the main issue I still had with Daichi's synth).

If I had a suggestion to make to Daichi it were to host the best synth1 banks (or atleast links to them) on his website, and to offer the best patches (I know, this is subjective) as default patches for this synth.

I know many people who disliked that synth until I showed them what one can do with it, simply because the default patches were not the best available. Often commercial synth designers hire exepensive sound designers just to get the most awesome patches they could get out of their gear in the default bank of their synth, so that anyone trying it out in a shop immediately falls in love with that synth.

I know that Synth1 is a freebie, and that therefore M. Toda hasn't the commercial imperatives brands trying to sell their stuff have, but hey, we @ KVR could organize a synth1.10 sound designing contest, with various categories like :

- Fretless basses
- Agressive basses
- Round basses
- Classic pads
- Dreamy pads
- Weird pads
- Nice leads
- Aggressive leads
- FXs
- ...

The best patches could be compiled in a bank that would come with any synth1 copy downloaded from Daichi's website (and their sounddesigners credited for their work).

Such a contest could immeditaly get a great patch bank M. Toda could include in his release and get synth1 heard as the quality synth it is.

About the GUI... to me, it's allright ! Simple, effective, working, clear... all fine here.
But once again, I've learned to cope with stupidity and I've often been told that non-blingbling GUI + freebie = crap (without even listening to the sound the synth produces). I know this mentality sucks but unfortunately, it's widespread...

Once again, a GUI design contest here on KVR could guarantee M. Toda - for free - a great GUI he could optionally include in his upcoming versions of synth1. To me, it wouldn't make any difference, but to many "average" people it would.

Sorry, I can't translate this into japanese (I hope my english isn't even too bad), but those are my toughts and comments on that highly expected and extraordinary update of synth1.

Keep up the good work, Toda-San !

nope, it's not. what you mean is the unison voice count. it's voice based, meaning, each unison voice uses all its voice parameters (filters, etc) and reduces the polyphony.
what i meant was the supersaw which is in the osc1 section, as soon as you move the detune knob of osc1. it switches the osc into 7 independantly phased/pitched waves.

I can do that, but I'm afraid Mr Toda would not understand it, as he speaks Japanese.

Lunatique did some Japanese translations though.

bugreport v.1.10:

bug 01:
- even if the chorus level is set to 0, the delay recieves the chorus output (wet only, not the dry signal) this is so on all 3 chorus modes.
one has to switch off the chorus in order to kill the chorussed wet-only-output from the delays input. differently spoken:
the level slider of the chorus does adjust the dry signal of the chorus mixer.
but it should let pass the dry signal unaltered, and adjust only the wet signal of the chorus mixer, where 0 means, only the dry signal feeds the delay, and max means, 50:50 dry/wet signal (or whatever max ratio ichiro has intended here) feeds the delay.

to recreate this bug, do the following:
load this patch:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2633218/chorus_bug_01.zip
you will hear that the delay only recieves the wet signal of the chorus, even though the level of the chorus is 0. if you set the feedback of the chorus to 0, there's no difference, as the dry signal of the chorus isn't present, but the wet only signal of the chorus mixer, which, if the feedback is 0, needs the original dry signal, to get the desired chorus fx.

bug 02:
- if the chorus is in 4 stage mode, the pingpong delay is screwed up (even if the level of the chorus is 0. same problem as above). the delay is not altering the sides anymore, i assume this is because a strange crossfeed in the chorus.

to recreate this bug, do the following:
load this patch:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2633218/chorus_bug_02.zip
play it with short notes. notice that the delay isn't exclusiveley on one side with each tap. turn off the chorus with the switch to hear how the delay should behave the right way.

please anyone confirm.

I'm glad we all get the chance to shout out for that which we so desire.
Like you, I'm not that bothered if they never get implemented, but to deny the possibility of advantageous development when the dev finally shows up would be a wasted opportunity.

If what we have is all we'll get, then I'm still suitably impressed.
But I can still imagine synth1 on steroids.

Damn ! I had a feeling that something special is happening here,i checked and... this is so great, its unbelievable ! Finally.
I uploaded new vrsions of my banks here:
http://www.speedyshare.com/files/219942 ... 1banks.zip

I currently reading whole thread im so excited about layers and reverb, i wish that synth1 had more bass punch but its kind hard to explain. Also more built in equalizers not just one.
How about adding OSC1+OSC2 and new knob OSC BALLANCE in M.ENV like in JP-8000 osc common section ?

Nice for brass sounds.
New unison is great but it have error because when i play chariots patch from my green bank then AMP and FILTER is wrong ,when i turn off unison then its good again.

As a mac user i cannot really appreciate the subjet of this thread , but these are great ideas and sounds like a huge mark of respect, due to the developper

Only to talk about the present moment, I really hope he will appreciate these kind words

I like current GUI ,but even something like texture jpg file would be nice but i dont think it works like that, its resizeable GUI and hes using completely different technique to draw it than most Vsti's ,it has some sort of antialiasing/blurring.Its not that important IMO,more important are bugfixes and adding new parameters like OSC1 to LFO.
I would prefere completely changed LFO section with window and parameters to choose from so you could route LFO with filter Attack or any other parameter in synth.

I have managed to Proper Case 2560 files from NL2 banks! THAT WAS TEDIOUS JOB and my wrists hurt a bit :hyper:

So, the thing is done now. 8364 patches ready! Whenever you say!
Next time use a free tool like the popular Bulk Rename Utility. It would have allowed you to do the job within a minute ;)
Thanks for your effort anyway!
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.
