I can confirm both, brok - it's been like this for a few versions. Since 1.07, or maybe earlier. (.06 ?)brok landers wrote:bugreport v.1.10:
bug 01:
- even if the chorus level is set to 0, the delay recieves the chorus output (wet only, not the dry signal) this is so on all 3 chorus modes.
one has to switch off the chorus in order to kill the chorussed wet-only-output from the delays input. differently spoken:
the level slider of the chorus does adjust the dry signal of the chorus mixer.
but it should let pass the dry signal unaltered, and adjust only the wet signal of the chorus mixer, where 0 means, only the dry signal feeds the delay, and max means, 50:50 dry/wet signal (or whatever max ratio ichiro has intended here) feeds the delay.
to recreate this bug, do the following:
load this patch:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2633218/chorus_bug_01.zip
you will hear that the delay only recieves the wet signal of the chorus, even though the level of the chorus is 0. if you set the feedback of the chorus to 0, there's no difference, as the dry signal of the chorus isn't present, but the wet only signal of the chorus mixer, which, if the feedback is 0, needs the original dry signal, to get the desired chorus fx.
bug 02:
- if the chorus is in 4 stage mode, the pingpong delay is screwed up (even if the level of the chorus is 0. same problem as above). the delay is not altering the sides anymore, i assume this is because a strange crossfeed in the chorus.
to recreate this bug, do the following:
load this patch:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2633218/chorus_bug_02.zip
play it with short notes. notice that the delay isn't exclusiveley on one side with each tap. turn off the chorus with the switch to hear how the delay should behave the right way.
please anyone confirm.

Totally unbelievable with 3 updates so fast after eachother. Thanks Daichi! I will play with Synth1 during my extended weekend starting tomorrow (The office needed to plan things up for the rest of the year so that's why).
Anyways I read Brok's and others suggestions, so here comes my ideas.
1. Make Synth1 16 part multitimbral, in effect 16 Synth1 in one plugin. Each with individual loadable patches. This would make it possible to use each part as a layer (set them to the same MIDI channel). Each part has 32 voices polyphony.
2. Add the support of setting up key / velocity zones for each part, this would make it possible to create more complex sounds.
3. Add a combi mode that can store a multitimbral configuration, make the storage 100 banks with 128 combis per bank.
4. Add these master effects: Reverb, delay, chorus, compressor, equilizer.
5. Palette selector in the options window to store more color schemes, having to type in new colors is an OK aproach, but a list of selectable color schemes would be sweet.
I know that this might sound alot, but they are only my suggestions.

Already mentioned. I didn't need to rename the FILES themselves (although I did that as well), I needed to edit specific TEXT inside the files, which is not what that program is all about. Notepad++ helped a lot, anywaysTimfonie wrote:Next time use a free tool like the popular Bulk Rename Utility. It would have allowed you to do the job within a minuteDragonSagoth wrote:OK FINALLY!
I have managed to Proper Case 2560 files from NL2 banks! THAT WAS TEDIOUS JOB and my wrists hurt a bit
So, the thing is done now. 8364 patches ready! Whenever you say!
Thanks for your effort anyway!

Oh, also.
To anyone out there - please add freely to my Synth1 bank collection. I'll be progressively more busy these days and can't vouch for immediate update. So, perhaps there should be a sticky with the regularly updated link to the progressively increasing number of banks. What I want to say - I will not update my signature as often, nor will I be able to cope with the requests of updating the bank collection. You have the RAR archive, you can update it yourself if need be
There's bound to be some kind of selection among those 8000+ patches. It would take a tremendous amount of time, but it's gonna happen sooner or later. I guess.

Under the BUG REPORT heading, the pop-up numeric displays of the Speed (spd) and Amount (amt) controls (in the LFO1 Wheel Sens section) fall off the bottom of the GUI screen (at least it does on my system - Sonar 6). Maybe these displays could be moved to the left and right sides of the knobs, instead of their current location under the knobs.

And thank you bwwd, for your great Synth1 soundbanks and vids!
Highly recommended!

I want to vote AGAINST that; that would mean I load up a 16-part multi-timbral monster even when I only need one instance.jobromedia wrote:1. Layering multiple instances of Synth1 (or any other synth for that matter) is easily possible in almost every host. If a host doesn't support that it's ancient.
Again my NO-vote for this one. Why include effects that can easily be added in any host program. I know onboard effects are nice when auditioning presets but the current feature set is capable enough for that. Aside from that I like to choose my own poison to add to the Synth1 sound in a mix.jobromedia wrote:4. Add these master effects: Reverb, delay, chorus, compressor, equilizer.
Especially a compressor; why on earth would you include that INSIDE a synthesizer
As many others have said already the current screen-setup works, is functional and does what it should do. Anything added to that is just bloatjobromedia wrote:5. +1 for multitimbrality here. Allowing that would also enable saving layered patches within Synth1. To get maximum benefit out of that, it should be possible to route individual layers to their dedicated outputs. It would also be important to be able to set the incoming midi channel for each layer individually. Unfortunately I'm afraid this could break compatibility to existing patches. But maybe for Synth2...
I don't think Synth1 needs more effects on-board. I'm sure we all have plenty of effects to choose from already.

+1 multitimbrality : i like this feature (should have every synth btw. ) because of layer-sounds.

I'm in the 'don't burden Synth1 with unnecessary bloat' camp. The number of additional features that one might think up are practically endless, but part of the charm of S1 is it's simplicity and ease of use.
I'd be more than happy with Brok's list - he knows what he's talking about.

i dont know why any soft synth has multitimbrality...such a step backwards...
you can go on about layers all you want, but thats not something you can only achieve using MT...

And one more request - might a phase control for the LFO's be useful?
please, please, please. PHASE control is really essencial in any synced lfo.

and that wouldn't be a problem at all, it wouldn't be taxing you cpu nor would it tax your memory. it would actually be more efficient than layering the synths within the host, as i.e. not all synths share gui memory between instances, etc, etc ...crimsonwarlock wrote:I want to vote AGAINST that; that would mean I load up a 16-part multi-timbral monster even when I only need one instance.jobromedia wrote:1. doesn't really help, cos even if a host can layer multiple vsti's by default, you couldn't provide presets for the multi across different hosts. real multitimbrality within synth1 would mean that you could provide presets for these multis. a big plus, if you ask me, also way easier to administrate. and another advantage would be: 16 synths, but only one gui open for all of them to be edited.crimsonwarlock wrote:Layering multiple instances of Synth1 (or any other synth for that matter) is easily possible in almost every host. no, the problem is rather the other way around:
most hosts don't support multitimbral/multi out synths in an elegant, easy way (i.e. logic - eek - i hated the way it is done there). if you only once tried how this is handelled i.e. in studio one (a breeze) or reaper (a bit more complicated, but still easy), you'd probably wouldn't want to work in another way anymore ...

again, also here: a lot of fx are actually part of the sound, so they belong into the preset. and also here, jobro probably meant that these fx should be master fx (sends or serial inserts to be discussed) for the whole multi, as, exept the reverb, everything else is there already.
noone holds you back either way?crimsonwarlock wrote:Aside from that I like to choose my own poison to add to the Synth1 sound in a mix.
not the most common effect on a synth, i give you thatone, but if you broaden the variety of sounds to percussive elements, you could easily use a compressor on those ... not that i commonly do it, but there's tons of uses for a compressor in a synth ...crimsonwarlock wrote:Especially a compressor; why on earth would you include that INSIDE a synthesizer
well, you're not too wrong on thatone (i could also easily live with the provided gui), but a good, intelligent gui never came to the bad, so why not? it's just a matter of development priorities ...crimsonwarlock wrote:As many others have said already the current screen-setup works, is functional and does what it should do.
