Hi there,
I'm getting very occasional hanging notes when changing sub-sessions whilst playing.
Mostly everything works fine, including changing sub-sessions while holding down notes or even the sustain pedal - mostly everything gets cleaned up and new notes will play in the new sub-session while old notes get released from the old one. Perfect.
However, sometimes (maybe once or twice in my whole set) there seems to be a problem and notes do not get released and hang on. Can't even stop them with All Notes Off. The only way is to hit the panic switch (if there is one) on the actual plugin that has the hanging note.
I'm not sure what causes this and I haven't been able to reproduce it reliably when I try, although whatever I'm doing that causes it tends to happen at the same places in the set. In the event that a hanging note happens on a looped sustained sound, this is very annoying as I can't direct my band and go into the plugin to try to find the panic button at the same time, especially using a laptop touchpad!!
As a result I tend to try to step sub-sessions in a 'clear patch' whether I'm holding down notes or not as I have an idea this may be being caused by some sort of data 'choke' within Cantabile.
Any thoughts welcome.

I also had problems with hanging notes. I think it's related to the bypass and mute switches. When I changed my rack so that all the instruments are always processing, the problem went away. Here's the original thread:

i have a fairly repeatable stuck note issue when changing subsessions. i'll experiment with the bypass, suspend settings to see if that helps.
i'm also noticing stuck notes in some keyboard split scenarios - using midi routing table splits. seems to happen mostly when i do a quick glide on the keyboard which is usually my VB3 organ solos. i solve it by re-doing the glide so it gets the note-off signal. crude but generally effective.

I haven't been using the suspend or bypass switches at all, because of the problem that happens with plugins sometimes not waking up. I would therefore personally say that the hanging notes don't seem to have to do with those settings.
I hadn't thought to check how many hanging notes happen on split points (either incoming or outgoing), transposed routings or routings with filters applied... That'd be worth checking. The problem is that hanging notes happen very infrequently and unpredictably. Of course the fact that they are infrequent is good, but it does make it harder to track the problem.
In the performance of the show tonight, no hanging notes occurred.

I agree. I think it's something in the main rack level. Similar stuff on rack slot lecel seems to work better...bburtin wrote:I also had problems with hanging notes.
