The grooves that are happening in here are insane - your attention to detail on the drums really pays off. Love the fx on the guitar. I'm fine with the wobble, but that may be because I'm so detached from genre that it doesn't press any buttons for me. What are you synthing out on here Justin? Especially with your stuff I want to read all the geekery.

Personally i like the wobble.
I wouldn't let myself anywhere near the stems because i think you've done a fantastic job as it is. Stunning work.

What are you synthing out on here Justin? Especially with your stuff I want to read all the geekery.

The two lead parts you hear from the beginning on are from my modular. The softer bell tone goes like this: Hertz Donut (1-op FM) -> BBD delay with a phase shifter in the feedback path -> QMMG in low pass gate mode. The harsher plucked sound is a Piston Honda (lofi wavetable oscillator) through one of the QMMGs low pass gates, I play through the wavetables at one point with a touch plate interface.

In the beginning there are two bass parts, I alternate notes between electric bass through Uhbik Runciter -> ADs Fuzz+ and the SH-2 bass with only some compression towards the end of the song I run the SH-2 bass through the same signal path as the electric bass.

The analog drums are run through Ohmicide, then back out of the computer into the Kaoss Pad.

The acoustic drums... well a lot went into those. I think there are four compressors in that effect rack but there is some parallel/serial signal routing foolery as well. Then there are three channels that just handle side-chain processing for the key inputs on the compressors mentioned above. Thank god for semi-modular routing.

The lead guitar is my Epi Les Paul running through a Hoof fuzz and MemoryBoy delay (for vibrato) through my Crate amp, close mic'd off axis with an MD 421. The crunchy guitar is just the LP through my Eleven rack.

The pad comes from my V-Synth.

I agree about the wobbly bass; the second version captures my fancy more than the first.

Both tracks are interesting though. Sort of a William Gibson cyberpunk heist movie soundtrack.

I think room could be made for vocals. I think if you made it more guitar-centric, thinned out the busy-ness of the drums, and played down the synth parts vox would fit nicely. I really like hearing vocals on stuff like this, it's a real challenge to mix but when it's thoughtfully done, it works.

If you'd like, I can provide some of the un-edited guitar and electric bass parts. It'd be really cool to hear what you'd play though.
