I used some sounds from the nuSofting demo - Broken Drum Machine. I'm aware that it makes a little tone every minute but tried to record a couple of seconds of a beat.
It worked before on another song, but this time the sound won't go away...even when I deleted all the virtual instruments I'm using.
I then tried to locate where the demo plug-in is in the hard drive - but can't find it.

I was also using Combosister (the paid for version) and some AU instruments from Logic.

Hope I made sense about my problem - any help would be appreciated.

Macbook Pro
OSX 10.6.3
Logic 8.0.2

So we know that virtual instruments aren't making the sound, right?

And instead, you recorded a couple of seconds of 'little tone', yes?

No offense meant, but.... you did delete that recording.... didn't you?

Is there any chance that the demo of Broken Drum Machine is designed to; when you actually write to .wav, make a constant tone so you can't use it in your recordings?

Fex,

Yes, the virtual instruments are all deleted. I still heard the bell sound every minute or so even with just the audio tracks.
I've written to AIF a measure of Broken Drum Machine sounds for a beat in the past without this problem.
This last time, I recorded about 4 measures of a beat and the bell sound was recorded in the AIF. So maybe that triggered some kind of alarm or something.
I deleted and trashed the audio files of the BDM beat hoping that would solve it...but still hear it almost as soon as I hit the spacebar to play the song.

Sorry, I replied to your message on the other forum section. I will refer to this message post only in the future.

You said you've put a lot of time into the song.... is there an earlier version saved that you can revert to?

It seems highly unlikely.

That's just weird. There must be another AIF carrying that bell sound. Mute all tracks and see if you can still hear it. If not, turn them back on one by one until you do.

Yes, it is weird.

I muted all the audio tracks (there's no more virtual instr. tracks in the song) and still hear the bell sound.

I spent all day yesterday tracking but, unfortunately, do not have an earlier version.

Guess I might have to start from scratch again and just lay off the BDM demo...I want to get it off my hard drive because of this. Do you know how it's worded so I can find it in my HD?

Seems a bit extreme.... just open the folder with the AIFs in and drop them into a new project.
As for finding installation directories, I sometimes resort to running the installer again just to see what the default path is.

Post

Yes, I thought of that too...I will open a new song and drag the AIFs in.

Thanks for trying to help.
