SciFiArtMan
unlikely that this works, as most hosts use the ID number. That has to be different.

Why would you want to do this? If you want a DirectX version (1.08), you should be aware that the vst interface is a little faster than DirectX in Sonar, though the difference is minimal.SciFiArtMan wrote:Does anyone know if you can install and use 2 different versions of Synth1 at the same time, i.e. v1.11 and v1.09 (in Sonar 6PE)? edit: nevermind, I see why now that I've gone back into the thread, and read about new 'incompatibilities'. Sorry.

turning Synth1 into Alchemy.... now that's a good idea .
Thanks to Mr Toda for the updates. The suboscillator is very appreciated.

Just go and buy a commercial synth with all the features you desire and leave the poor guy alone
exactly what I was thinking.
no offense, though, to anyone. I just feel that all these screaming demands for "this or that and something more and now and we want it yesterday".......represent a rather strange attitude.
just my personal feeling about this.
If was the developer, I would scream and run away from KVR

Possibly because you're reading them as 'screaming demands' rather than as suggestions being made in an open discussion?planet ugh wrote:+1yellowfever wrote:Jeez. How selfish are people going to get round here?![]()

Wow I still ain't d/led any of the new versions yet. I'm still on 1.07. I'm just waiting for the dust to settle on all the new goodies. This thing has been like a white knuckle ride these past few weeks with what would 'normally' have been like 8 - 16 years worth of updates given Daichi's past work rate. This is awesome. Love Synth 1
Just make the music that you enjoy (failing that go for a walk, watch some porn, have a fight with a random bloke until something else happens).

For years ppl complained or just asked for new versions and now that we have a lot of updates, people start complaining again that the "old feel" is going to fade away or the new versions will break the 8k+ patches etc. etc.
I mean, the old versions remains the same. I know many ppl who tend to use older software (or even sequencers) versions, where's the problem?
I DO love seeing synth1 growing up, even in features.
SubOSC is great for me, thank you Daichi!

You're a sound designer... you have access to ton of other stuff already!brok landers wrote:good you said "IMO", as what kept me from really using synth1 was exactly that: too limited in various ways.
So, does that make it a bad synth? Does it need to be updated to have more features, more capabilities, more routing possibilities?brok landers wrote:only the filter is a bit more analog, feature wise it's a joke, imo. you can use it for a great fraction of typical uncluttered saw/pulse/filter sounds, but that's it.
BECAUSE! Take an old Roland Synth for example, or better... E-MU. You have a certain limiti in terms of routing/patching and designing a sound. But this is what makes this particular synth/rompler so special and distinct from others.brok landers wrote:not every aspect of synthesis, by far not, noone wants that. all we want is fexibility to use the synthesis it actually has got. there's a lot you could do with it, if it would have more comprehendsive modulation capabilities, multitimbrality, etc. why waste the potential?
Does Synth1 really, and by that I mean "really", turn into another monster from around the block? Stuff we have at our disposal already, even with H.G. Fortune's creations?
I can only quote yellowfever in that case:
Synth1 is great ALREADY!yellowfever wrote:Jeez. How selfish are people going to get round here?![]()

What you (most of the people going haywire in here) try to do is create a complete new synth, based upon Synth1 - but these "new features" are actually put into the "old" Synth1.
Stop that please!
BTW:
Yes, I do have a (t)rusty Kurzweil K2000 v1 Calvin in my posession as my master keyboard. If anybody wants to sponsor me a v3.x upgrade, and can even offer me the needed OS and Sound Bank chips, then I'll gladly upgrade.

Some guys should just chill and act like this thread never existed ,keep using old version.
New version didnt broke 8 thousand patches,it broke some FM patches ,not really that much % ,besides its not final version so FM could get fixed in time.
People who writing that new version broke 8k patches probably didnt even tried to check how many patches sound different. Its so easy to say that 8k patches are broken because someone wrote that his FM patches sound wrong now.
They sound normal in older versions ,its not like old versions are deleted from internet and all HDD forever when you download new version.
It still sounds like the very synth1 i downloaded a couple of years ago,its not synth2.
This "leave the poor guy alone" line is weird, maybe he actually enjoys working on this synth ,thats why he came back ?
