I have SampleTank L, SonikSynth, and 3 ExpansionTanks (Piano Collection, Symphony Strings, and OmniSynth).
Apart from a couple of patches from the Piano Collection, I much prefer SonikSynth than the rest. I mean even for patches of physical non-electronic instruments, I prefer SonikSynth than SampleTank (I have the L version, not XL).

Oh... but you shouldn't miss the bass, electric guitar and acoustic guitar collections. They have instruments EVERY BIT AS GOOD as those in SonikSynth... and there is a lot more variety. Having one does not nullify the need for the others

Because there's 109,236 potential customers on gearslutz.com waiting to be in on the great group buy happening here... According to gearslutz rules: "All group buy notices must be posted by the actual people running the group buy".

So if IK contacts Jules (gearslutz admin) - we get a lot more sales and get to 6 for 1 in a day or two!

That's Why.

Is there a secret handshake i should employ to get non-crap customer support from SR/IK?

I sent in a question to 3 sources over a week ago, IK support, SR support and on a recommendation from here, Allen at SR. So far no reply from IK apart from an automated one, no reply from SR support and Allen at SR has been fairly useful but says he's waiting on an email reply from his boss. (in fairness to SR, maybe their support service actually IS Allen, I'm not in the loop and don't know).

Okay some of these sounds are truly horrid. Can someone explain to me the logic behind the "vocal attacks and FX" patches from the Vocal Tank? I don't even think being high on 10 tons of drugs explains this one to me... The lowest octave is the only one with small percussive pointless sounds and the rest is blank...

My installer must have failed or something, I am trying again.

Please tell me these banks are not serious..?

Allen is SR/esoundz support. If Allen is on the case, he'll get you sorted.

OK, cool. Immediate retraction of any anti- SR vibes in my OP.

Patience never was my greatest virtue.

yes.. they are not too bad.

I think these are designed to be played in combination with other patches to change the attack"enunciation"...

take a "P" attack sound and combine it with an "ooooooo" articulation and you get:
"poooooooo"

..that sort of thing 8)
