Whereas I'm prepared to hazard a guess that the guitarist's name is Baden Powell.

Yes you're right - but you shouldn't be stumped.

I'd say that you're 99% of the way there. ;)

EDIT That was directed at Res. Fex, you're right.

Baden Powell is a Brazilian musician with a solid international reputation. A gifted instrumentalist and composer, he bridges the gap between classical artistry and popular warmth and was a key figure in the bossa nova movement.

Born in the Varre e Sai district, he was baptized after his grandfather, a musician and conductor himself, whose father was an admirer of the Boy Scouts founder.
I'm claiming ten pedantry points for pointing out that the founder of the Scout Movement was Robert Baden-Powell, with a hyphen, and I'm giving the next question to Resonator63 as a humanitarian gesture.

But I think you need to give a little biographical info - e.g. nationality...

EDIT beat me to it!

Thanks Fex
Just on my way out.
I'll dream one up and post later

The 'new wave' in question is bossa nova, and the guitarist is...

Baden Powell de Aquino

I must admit I'd never heard of him!

[Edit] Sorry, I seem to have stepped into some kind of time warp there. Carry on as normal.

And now for something simple.

I'm a guitarist in a band
I also play guitar for a well known solo artist
The solo artist used to be in bands before he went solo.

Who am I?

No not me, the guitarist fools!!! :dog:
