an extreme cover of ken nordine's famed "word jazz" piece Down the Drain:
drainne
slow, soft, long, trippy ... you have to be in the mood to appreciate. (and it really helps to know the original recording.)
enjoy. :-)

i don't know the original at all.
that said, i'd say yours is pretty original. i feel like i'm being hypnotized (as i often do when i hear your tracks)
fun granular stuff... i don't know how you do it... i like it a lot. this is actually quite inspiring to listen to. thanks for this!

thanks funky lime. :-) yes, i'm pretty happy with the results. it might not be obvious, but i worked a LONG time on this one. timing all the various layers so that they flowed in and out of (quasi)synchronization was very tough. and i know what you mean about hypnotic; i fell asleep listening to this (with headphones) several times. i think i'm in my musical opium den stage with pieces like this and moon river (posted about a week ago) and my slow granular skewed grooves. i need a plush divan (fainting couch?) in my workroom ...

I do have his original LPs. As I listen, the processing hasn't let me identify it yet. hehe
Been a long time since I listened to any of them.
I remember one where he takes a bath with a rubber duck..I think. :& )
Sounds real cool though..I like it.
I think I have the same "super stretch" app your using...forget what it's called...ah it's over. :* (

Quite scary. What are all the FX you use? specifically the saturation on the voice?

I don't know the original either, I will try to check it.
woah, this really gets under the skin and crawls around. I've downloaded it to it proper justice at the right time. dig the way some layers fade away and others appear.
coolness

it's all reaktor, like pretty much everything electronic i do. specifically, it's a granular re-synthesis ensemble i created a few years ago that i tweaked for this piece. the audio is granularized, pitch-shifted (very slightly), delayed (with feedback), eq'd, reverbed (slightly, ever changingly), and sent through a final master expander/limiter. i used no saturation modules. what you hear probably comes from the way the granular re-synthesis module processes audio.softegg wrote:Quite scary.
