This looks potentially interesting - I've been wanting a way to get audio into my iPhone for ages - looks like it might be a useful complement for Line6's midi interface.

However it says nothing about recording on the web page. Am I to understand it's just for live playing and jamming but it's not possible to record into the iPhone with it? That would probably be a deal killer for me. What I really want is a way to record audio into my iPhone from a line in. If it can record would it also be possible to use the line in to record into other iPhone audio apps like the excellent audio editor FiRe?

My MusicCalc is temporary offline.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. :borg:

Thanks, we're definitely looking into the possibilities here even though it isn't out yet. The units are working and the app is working too, but we'll be looking at improvements and I'd love to see recording in there too!

We've added some more videos, with the iRig adapter attached...

SRV / Texas Rock on iPhone:

Metal amp on iPhone:

70s Vintage amp tone on iPhone:

Nashville country rock on iPhone:

I was totally uninterested in iPhone as it was before, but iRig makes it a wonderful thing! ;)
Just let its Sound do the talking: http://www.synthmaster.com/

Thanks! We'll have more videos coming and the app will drop into the App Store as soon as possible.

So it is feasible then at least? Through the mike in? Is stereo possible too?

Post

It is feasible. Just a bit tricky with juggling the resources on the platform as features are added. That's really the main "challenge" per se, but we really want to add things that people want and have to carefully consider and then carefully code of course :) Poor devs, but they do love this stuff and the challenge.

Peter, is this an iPad optimized app, i.e. does it scale to 1024x768, instead of merely doubling the iPhone screen?

I would think the extra screen real estate would really be advantageous with this device.

We are working on an iPad-specific version. Details TBA and I'll keep you posted.

Sweet! Hopefully it's just an upgrade to the initial app, and not an additional cost?

Everything is TBA, I actually have no details on that - some of that stuff is harder to manage via the App Store too (I remember when in-app purchases were not very elegant or even really working so let's watch the trajectory of this iPhone/iPad app upgrade stuff)

I look forward to it; I've already got the other IK software for my iPod touch, and it's really cool (the groove stuff), so Amplitube on the iPad should be even better since I'm a guitarist.

As another guitarist using GrooveMaker, did you get GrooveMaker Rock Ace? If so, what did you think?

/end threadjack :)

More on-topic, there's actual playing through the iRig with backing track imported here:

Actually no, I haven't gotten it yet, though I plan to. I've been having fun with a few others, mixing the techno-type flavors in with metal-style guitars for an industrial feel.

I've been running it into a CD-input on a Pocket POD, and jamming along like that through headphones on my lunchbreak at work.
