Like I ended my post; don't take it too seriously, it was just a pipe dream ;)
zedd wrote:I recommend that you and others stop thinking of these as "loops". Think of them rather as virtual instruments with drum beats (and percussion) sampled in context. Each "loop" is actually a unique drum kit, which contains beats which have a room sound and an overlay of different beats (which are resonating in the way they would when being played together in a real kit). This allows for results which you don't get with an ordinary VI drumkits where each beat is sampled in isolation. It can allow you to create more realism in creating a groove. There doesn't have to be any looping involved at all.

Especially for the percussion, these Loop *Slices* are awesome. But man, you can invent some fantastic kick, snare and hi-hat grooves by starting from some of these things.

Maybe it is not everyone's cup of tea, since it can involve more work in creating your drum track. But with a little dedication you can create things which sound very authentic.
Woah, slow down there a little mate.

During the T-Racks group buy I got my hands on the drum masters grooves and experimented with slicing them up and making grooves. I know a lot of people do this, including many professionals. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. You hit the nail on the head when you said it isn't everyone's cup of tea.

I'm a long time user of BFD and I also got in on the SSD no brainer and I much prefer working with those tools. On top of that I do a lot of electronic percussion, using Battery 3 and one shot samples. I actually think it takes time and skill to make a group of unrelated samples fit together and belong, rather than splice together some edits that are already well recorded and processed.

That's just my way of working. I won't put anyone down for using loops. I just personally don't find it inspiring. I actually enjoy putting a lot of effort into percussion and creating everything from scratch. What's wrong with that?

Have a good evening,

Ha! Well, I think that doing a great job with the Slice Loops DOES take a fair bit of effort to do effectively. I'm certainly not proposing that it is an easy short cut. I pretty much create everything from scratch myself, as well. I just take advantage of these slice loops in order to get more authentic drum sounds which exist when kit pieces are played at the same time. And percussion done this way is much more authentic (at least for traditional recordings--maybe not so much for electronic music).

It's interesting that more people don't see this method as inspiring and creative, since when you play a drum "loop" as a virtual drum kit, you are actually FORCED to be creative and not to rely on the usual ways that you would play a VI drumkit. Every loop becomes a unique instrument, and I often find myself playing a hi-hat groove or something which I would never have come up with on a standard VI drumkit layout.

Anyways, I'm sure that some of the people who have purchased some of these loop packs will enjoy working in this way, and will realize the potential of this method. :-)

I'm just wondering... speculating... pondering... do you think we'll hit 3600 today... say, in the next 6 or 7 hours? It's possible....

Only 14 to go. As far as I can tell, we have 80+ registrations in 12 hours. 34,5 regs needed each day now.

I didn't even realize how plentiful 3x this deal was as in amount of patches and new sounds.. the palette I'm getting here is crazy, and I haven't even downloaded any of the "loop" content yet, just the instruments.. damn what a good deal this group buy is, for everybody!

Those who are still thinking.. don't think! Buy! You could already be making new songs with your new sounds!

I wasn't expecting much out of the Bass Collection 2, but it turned out to be downright fabulous, at least 3 new basses there I'm surely going to be using a lot!

So has anyone downloaded any RAW packs from Esoundz and can comment on them. I am planning on getting one for my bonus since I can use it in Logic (and one day in Stylus I assume).

And a reminder- as this thread is huge- I have posted revised child presets or the Vocal Collection Xpansion Tank in the KVR Banks & Patches section. Just select SampleTank and you will see them (with another submission I see there!). Check it out as it might bring some life to the Vocal pack.

Yes they're good. Basically the exact same content as in the Loop Slice packs of this GB, but in a different format. Definitely useful stuff.
