How do I know if Rhino is registered?

It's ages since I last installed it from scratch - not sure if I've got it right. I put the key.dat file in the same folder but when I click on the info page it says registered to: but does not give my name - I was sure it did before.

Yes that's what I thought - it doesn't. So do I need to do anything else with the key other than put it in the same folder? I tried dragging it onto the interface. This is a fresh install onto Win7 x64 so maybe there are some kinks on that platform?normal wrote:info page should have your name w/ registered to : ...aMUSEd wrote:It's ages since I last installed it from scratch - not sure if I've got it right. Is your VST directory underneath C:\Program Files ?
I had some trouble with it there on a Vista system, ended up creating C:\VST instead and a lot of problems - registering, saving presets, etc - went away.
I figured that out before I installed Rhino, so I didn't have any problems there.

No I deliberately avoided the whole Program files thing and set up my own directory for anything like plugins called c:/Audio which has a VST x64 and a VST x86 folder - Rhino is in the latter of course.dougsyo wrote:Is your VST directory underneath C:\Program Files ?

You're making me wonder now if I should have even avoided a gap in the folder name - is it that old fashioned? I really don't want to have to change it all now.

If it's not registered properly will it time out or something? I'm not getting any "register me" type messages or noises when I play it (so far)

I actually think it is registered but for some reason, can't display your name properly. Can you send me your key file and I'll have a look ?
If it isn't registered it will drop notes randomly, and won't save your work. So you would notice pretty fast

I will but it's the same keyfile (obviously) I used on XP and it worked there so I don't think it's so much the keyfile as the environment (Win7 x64)

You could also try to download your key file from the web site and see if the new one works any better ?

I've just downloaded a new key and this time it worked - maybe the old one got corrupted somehow?
