I have an ordinary phone. I am thinking of getting a touch-screen smartphone for everything but the phone functions.

My question is: can you use an iphone (or the android alternatives) without the phone functions? Without a SIM card?

I don't want the radiation. (other than the limited times I'll be using wifi)

I'll be waiting for the new iphone in June to see what it brings to the table. But the iphone is very expensive, it's almost 500euros for the 16GB version where I live. The HTC offerings start from less than 400euros, and they have expandable memory via SD cards (which to me is important).

I may also get into app development at some point. I don't know which is easier to program, and where there's greater margin for profits.

huh? isn't the iphone without the phone part a current iPod?

you either want a phone or not

I'm not registered to the FT and I can read it.
[edit]
I can't anymore..FT paywall kicked in

But anyway.. big research, no link found apart from slight increase in tumor risk for very high frequency user.

on my ipod if i delete them on the pod itself they come back on again when i sync up to the iplayer on my laptop because it makes a backup (usually in my music folder) You would have to delete them from your laptop to perm delete them

Thanks, i looked at this and people suggested in reviews that it was good but had issues and that is why a new one is being released in the summer. Dont know how accurate that is though.
