Hi folks,
I'm making progress with a new Rhino upgrade. If you:
- are a registered Rhino user
- don't mind breaking your existing Rhino configuration :-)
- would like to get a preview of some hot new features !

Then please get in touch ;-)

i might be interested, yes

but what do you mean by breaking existing Rhino configuration? :?

Post

Once you've upgraded to the new beta, it may be a bit unstable - and reverting back to your beloved v1.09 may require re-installing it from scratch.

Oh, and before someone asks. The main new hot feature is the ability to import external wav files into the Rhino engine :-)

wow a Rhino with an engine, whatever next?

Elephants with headlights?
Giraffes with traction control?
Hippos with ABS? (actually that could be useful)

I'll test if I can install this rhino beside rhino109 - do we have to overwrite the old, stable install?

Post

No you can't. It'll overwrite your 1.09 install.
Don't worry too much, though; I already have more testers than I can handle :-)

so um...
how long do you think it will take with all those beta testers you got
just sali..I mean curious

It'll actually depend on where I stop. I really wanted this new "external sample import" feature tested, but there are still many things I'd like to include in this version:
- ASIO support in standalone mode
- (switchable) virtual keyboard
...
Also, Daniel and I would like to do more work on the demo bank. Currently it doesn't really demonstrate the most interesting features of Rhino, mainly because the synth as evolved so much since it was first released.
All in all, you may have to wait about 1 month before playing with the new version. But it'll be worth it :-)

i hope the ghost-envelopes enhancement is on your to-do list, too :)

Post

well, yes, although in my first tests, it really looked cluttered...

so why not some kind of envelopes' tracks, ala Absynth? i mean, being able to see in one glance the different envelopes would be so helpful.

If there's room for one more, I'm in. I also left an email via your site.
