I got SampleTank in the Group Buy, v happy with all the multi sample packs.

However, I got Modern Tech Rap loop packs and was very disappointed to find that only ONE of the 15 construction kits also appears in loop slices. Corresponding with Allen in support over the space of a week confirmed that this is the way it is. I think this sucks, it goes against what the advertising says and is a real downer.

I was going to let this be as "one of those things" but zedd's post on the MArket Place thread had kind of opened the wound up again:

zedd wrote:
"The Construction Kit packs have 2 different folders of presets. One set has ALL the parts of a Construction Kit preset spread out over different notes on your keyboard. The other set has Loop Slice versions of each "oop in each Construction Kit, so that you can play the loops and invent your own brand new creations. "

So, 2 questions:

Why is MTR different?
Can I just delete it from my HD (it's useless as it is) and DL a different pack instead?

Thanks for reading

It's useless? That seems a bit extreme. But I am glad you like the loop slices in ST. Well yeah of course you can delete if you don't like the value you got. As to why it is different... each library is different. It wasn't advertised that all construction kit libraries had the same loops in slices and in menu maps. Zedd saying it is not the official advertising... as much as we love him! I am not sure why that one is different but some of them are just different that's all - to mix it up. Some may actually prefer it this way. The sound lists are posted and that advertising would show these patches have different names and are different sounds. Some people may be psyched they got even more material on that one. But it's not that I don't see your point. In retrospect it would have made more sense to have the same loops as slices there... too late to go back to it now though.

One thing we may do, which may change your mind perhaps about deleting it, is release a wave of ReTank (loop slice libraries) for SampleTank that would include the Modern Tech Rap one and we could give everyone who joined the group buy on esoundz a discount coupon. This way one could cherry pick loop slice libraries (even many that weren't even included at all in this group buy as well). Perhaps some sort of bundle so you can add that one without it costing any extra (although it'd cost extra for something... we can't just give stuff away all the time for nothing). The value of this with 7 for 1 at $50 is hopefully a super super no brainer... and that should leave at least a little room to expand further to get more of what you want. It wasn't intentionally left out to tease you into buying more - of that I can assure you. But since there are people like yourself who may very well want more... for a little bit more in price we can provide it. Unless people just want everything for nothing... then it is just not possible for us to develop and develop more sounds to please everyone if they aren't willing to support that development. But hopefully people are! Then no problem. We can always do more and we cater to the demand... As long as one realizes we never said that loop library was even supposed to have the same loops in slices and menu map. So we're talking about additional development work for it to exist.

First of all let me say that a long and detailed response is probably just as valuable as an extra free pack, so thanks for taking the time to reply so thoroughly, makes me feel a lot better about SR.

Yeah, "useless" is a bit extreme, but certainly not useful in the way I'd imagined they'd be. I love the sounds in MTR but want to use them at dubstep tempo, so the slices would be the key here. As it is, speeding the construction kits up to 140 doesn't sound so good. I can mess around with sample modes to make, for example, the drum loops sound OK but then that mode might sound crap on the associated piano lick. Anyway, you already said you can see my point so I won't go on.

As for me "deleting it" the second part of that sentence was "and DL a different pack instead" so I wasn't talking about me ending up with one pack less installed on my HD... :-)

Whatever, the whole ST deal is phenomenal, no complaints there, was just frustrated that MTR wasn't as I imagined it would be, and was trying to offload it and replace it with something else. If that's not possible, I understand, and the future deal thing you wrote about also sounds interesting so whatever happens, I'll watch this space.
