So, to my future audience's shock and horror, I'm going to start playing live again after an eight year hiatus. This time I'd like to do everything through my laptop, which is NOT the latest and greatest beast of a MacBook Pro, but a faithful ol' 2Ghz, 2 GB RAM affair. Having said that, I'm on a quest for the lightest amp sim available for the Mac. I'm thinking that Flying Haggis might be in the bag, but wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything else that's light. Effects are not necessary, but would be helpful.

I'm using Live, and have no intention at this time to go Logic, so that one's out of the question for me.

Try the Airwindows stuff.

Not pretty but they sound pretty good and are extremely light on CPU.

I actually like Flying Haggis... I get some fat sounds out of it. I use it on my Mac G5 desktop and my PC Laptop too. For that price ($29) I couldn't go wrong. I add Plug-ins to it (using it within a DAW) and can dial in super clean to full bore high-gain.
Now the proud owner of an avid 11 Rack, Running Pro Tools 10.3.3 - for me it's heaven!
