Has anyone had experience with the Piano and Synth libraries, specifically could anyone give me a review of them?
I'm in need of a good workable live/writing piano and some synths with an Athlete type sound to them.
Thanks!

What do you have already? I mean what kind of pianos do you have now? If you don't have much, go for the pianos for sure. They sound nice. If you have Kontakt pianos (big libraries), then you use them for sketching or in a laptop - where you don't need as much ram.brokenfor wrote:Has anyone had experience with the Piano and Synth libraries, specifically could anyone give me a review of them?

I'm glad lots of folks feel that way. Yes, I'm tickled pink, mostly to see people getting a busload of stuff for a cheap price. I don't get any commission though every time we have a promo/release I try to finagle a trip to Italy out of it. Still hasn't worked!Guenon wrote:The best kind of marketing is the kind where everyone (on both sides of the deal) ends up feeling like a winnerkiezum wrote:It's all marketing. And it's all stuff. As a cusomer in this group buy, I surely do feel like that. The value for money is just excellent, I ended up with way more inspiring sounds than I dared to hope for (I don't mean generally, I mean personally going through the libraries and bumping into something that just makes you go "ah!"), and the rest of the whole customer experience has been positive as well.
So thank you. My personal goal was to see this surpass the T-RackS Group Buy regardless of the differences in price point, etc making that a totally non-scientific comparison. Now it just needs to blow it away and get you guys 8x1!

There is a good piano that comes with the Sampletank basic program. Many more nice ones in the Piano expansion but if you just want a 'noodling around' piano the one in the the basic Sampletank Xt might fit the bill.brokenfor wrote:Has anyone had experience with the Piano and Synth libraries, specifically could anyone give me a review of them?

Thanks for the replies, I haven't ever bought any pianos (pretty new to computer based setup) so I was thinking this would be a pretty good deal if the pianos were any good seeing as other piano VSts etc. are much higher priced.
The synths I was looking at are the oberhiem and the arp collections as well as most of the other synth based collections in the group buy.

I am a marketing professional for a living and that last statement from Guenon really does a great job of describing how marketing, when done well and ethically, actually works. I don't think it's really a trick and I'll explain why. (Okay, I know I'm going to take some shots for this being academic, but I think, since the subject was brought up, it's a good time to give more insights on what "marketing" actually does entail.)Guenon wrote: The best kind of marketing is the kind where everyone (on both sides of the deal) ends up feeling like a winner
A lot of people use the phrase marketing when they really mean promotion, but actually marketing truly consists of what product or service a company makes (basically, ideally making a product there is a real marketing need or want for), getting that product or service it in the right place (or distributing to consumers most effectively), pricing that product or service appropriately and promoting it (the part most people think of when they think of marketing -- this includes advertising, PR, social media and other types of promotional messaging from the brand to the consumer).
When marketing is done well and ethically, I think of it as being a lot like match-making -- finding the right match between what a company makes (or service it provides), the pricing of what they make and the distribution of what they make and getting the word out to the very group of consumers who want or need to buy the things that the company makes (or service it provides).
No-brainer deals are really helpful for developers to get their products into the hands of the people they want to sell to and because it does so very cheaply, the consumer takes on very little risk and the developer doesn't make a very substantial profit of those products. What the developers are trying to is acquire (or gain) more customers, with the belief that if people try a little taste of what they do -- they'll come back and buy more product at a less discounted price. And acquiring a new customer is really costly -- a lot more costly than selling to your current customers, so businesses will sometimes sacrifice profit in order to gain a new customer, hence things like no-brainer specials or very heavy discounting (sometimes they're simply looking to raise revenue or optimize the cash they can bring in on a product at the end of its life cycle.) Group Buys are useful for getting consumers to try out products from developers for the first time and from the other point of view for acquiring new customers. Because the seller commonly dramatically discounts prices, the seller needs to increase the volume of sales in order to achieve a reasonable amount of profitable revenue. For example, if 1 sale normally provides a net profit of $100, it may take 10 sales to provide the same net profit with group buy discounting.
I think all of this is completely fair and reasonable and good for the consumer and the business. Heck, I'm in marketing and know how all this works inside out, and I think the system makes a lot of sense. As long as companies that make products (or services) accurately represent those products and those products meet or exceed the expectations they have set, I think the whole process works well and is ethical. I get a total kick out of many of these group buys and join them, like this one. It's a great deal, fits my needs well and there's also an element of fun to get such incredible discounting and join the group.
Hmmm...In the back of my head, I'm thinking lots of people are going to see my post thinking of the guy in the video that screamed "Leave Britney alone!!!" instead screaming, "Leave marketers alone!!!"

brokenfor, Both the Obi and ARP collections are really nice. These are classic synths. And if you are new to this, then the pianos should make you happy.
Have you listened to the user demos people have posted in this thread? They are good and interesting. Here is one of them: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/965632/Baard%20 ... %20One.mp3 - Seven for the Price of One
androidlove has a number of them.
I did think of something else. What kind of music do you want to create? That information can help us a lot. I don't know who Athlete is, so I can't help there.
Doing a search will take some time, but if you're willing to wade through a lot of posts, there is some info in this thread.

I had some issues with the editing of the quote part and I think I edited things down and mis-attributed your quote to Peter. Sorry, about that.
