Good to hear from you K-Bee ... hope all those issues you've had to address work out for the best .... The OSC can always wait, just make sure you keep yourself whole, and we'll have all the more chance of getting a piece of you! :hihi:

Anyway, I have to issue yet another teeny apology for my own lack of presence of late ... I've got a lot more active in certain socio-political actions than I expected, and it's making it hard to keep with stuff which was routine before.

... Dont worry though, I assure you the OSC is still up there on my priorities list, it just means I may have to stretch some timescales now and again ... at least til I get my head around the erratic change of pace demanded by said socio-political activities. So please bear with me ... and may I take the opportunity to say thanks to you guys who keep the threads rolling along ... brilliant! ... you maintain that belief that the OSC threads are a damned cool place to be :)

.... Anyway, 8 and a half hours to go!!! :-o :-o :-o ... which you all know is a big fat lie cos there's no way I'm gonna be here that early in the morning to check :hihi: ... so call it 11 or 12 hours .... Hope to get the voting thread up on Saturday, ( busy tomorrow and sunday ) ... and launch two comps early next week ( OSC17-basic64, and the NA2SC )

I'm looking forward to hearing all of the Texture tracks!

Wow, we're going to have 2 contests going simultaneously? I've got a Basic 64 track ready, but am planning a 2nd one. Maybe i could make that 2nd track the track for the NA2SC instead.

Basic 64 scouting report: It's definitely got more quirks than i'd thought. Some of the 'automation tags/labels' are a bit difficult to decipher. It does have a noise waveform, so snares and cymbals should be 'fairly easy.' The arpeggiator is one of the really cool features. Having 3 oscillators gives it a bit of flexibility.

Hmmmm....so much for big evolving sample based orchestral pads then :hihi: 8-bit C6 style stuff ain't exactly my strongest side. I do hope I'll get the chance to work on something though.

I sense the wind is turning
Not sure you folks are gonna dig my Tarnce'n'bass track :hihi:

hey guys, gonna try and thrash that voting thread together now .. would have been done by now, but the Eurovision was a good opp for much needed 'family time' .. :)

Makes me appreciate all the more the fact that the winners in OSC are usually the ones with all the right qualities .... whereas, it appears that with Eurovision, melody, emotion, harmony, composition, arrangement, and impact are superfluous!

The only final placing which made any sense was The UK being bottom of the pile due to it being the shittiest entry of the lot!
.... whereas any one who knows anything about a good song, and wishes to aspire to great songwriting would be impressed with the entries from Russia, Ireland and Israel. ( though my fave was by far the Turkish goth rock effort :) )

Anyway, i better get my skates on! :)

OK folks, the voting thread is up ... even though the 'all tracks' zipped file is still uploading :hihi:

Agree totally UK was the worst and Turkey the best, but Russia right stuff? :-o Seems anyway there's a change and it's now the kids with phones willing to spend on sms now that idol, xfactor and whatnot are fave pastimes and ESC therefore 'in'.

Anyway, on to our own vote, where the voting is still mature and sensible.. :D
