which eq is that ?
Why do you ask?

Possibly the fewer controls and more funk part. I don't think funk is common to EQs in the same way that, say, warmth might be. Now mojo...totally different. :)

I ask because I imagine it to be an eq that has a small user interface with a hidden harmonic enhancing mechanism based a dynamic detection of the chords that are played so the frequency knobs are not necessary ... but I could be wrong so how exactly does it work ?

Almost, but without the magic. My track EQ of choice does have fewer controls than most fully-featured EQs, and it does have a little non-linear behaviour. If there's any magic, it's only that the whole frequency spectrum tilts and shifts with every knob adjustment - that is, what you see on the interface isn't exactly what you get. So it's somewhat imprecise and a little unpredictable - great for track EQ, terrible for mastering EQ ;-)

In case you're wondering what it is, I'm not going to say it in public. I have professional relationships with several plugin companies - some of amy day-to-day plugins are those that have been provided to me, others I've bought personally. It's very difficult for me to speak publicly about the specific tools I use without bringing along the baggage of endorsements, favours, etc - whether they be real or perceived. This is one of the reasons I mainly stick to discussing techniques rather than tools.

If you really want to know, there is a place that I discuss these (and other) things in detail. PM me and I'll let you know.

-Kim.
