Personally I'm a big P-90 fan myself, especially in mahogany or alder bodies.
Most P-90s I've owned so far were A5, resulting in that aggressive, honky Stones crunch over Fender style amps and fat '70s hard rock tone over a Marshall.

Recently I put some handwound A2 David Barfuss P-90s in my LP Special and they're absolute keepers, very articulate, a bit more mellow, more blues or 60s Steve Cropper than Stones when using a Fender.
Still, with a treble booster they can shake the walls.

). I already have a Les Trem Stop-Tailpiece Tremolo installed, so it's going to be kind of unique....like a super resonant mahogany surf/rockabilly/blues/rock machine...kind of odd but I bet it'll be loads of fun!
