zedd wrote: Exactly. So you might as well just grab whichever of the freebie packs is of most interest to you. No further choices will be added to that list. Waiting is unnecessary, unless you are just holding off for the pleasure of having a new library to download on another day.

Unfortunately, the DownloadableSoundz site counts your code as redeemed the moment you start the process, so you really need to know what you plan to get ahead of time. That gives me all the more reason to wait!

(Edit: In other words, I'm not waiting for Squids to announce the extra bonus. I'm waiting for clarity on the options that are already available.

The extra announcement I'm waiting for is from Peter, letting us know if "and beyond" means 9x1, 10x1 etc and if any extra choices will become available through IK.)

For example, eDrummist just mentioned he's looking forward to downloading the Tron add-on pack. That isn't even on the list posted on the esoundz site!

So what other choices are there that we don't know about? Have YOU gone through DownloadableSoundz yet to get your extra choice from esoundz? What were the other options?

Here's one reason why it's so important:

If items that are on my "wish list" are available as bonus choices, I'd join the group buy a fourth, fifth, sixth etc time just to get them.

The rationale is that if I'd be willing to spend $50 on those sets anyway, I might as well help out the Group Buy and push us closer to 7000, 8000, etc even though I'd already have absolutely all the choices from IK.

So please, if anyone knows all the other options not listed on the esoundz page I posted before, by all means let us know what they are!

New appreciation for the Vocal Collection.
So I decided to play around and am finding that this collection is just begging to be beaten and battered with effects. I will create some extra child presets (plus updating some of my existing JavaJ presets in the Banks & Patches section) to showcase what can be done.
Very cool stuff

SampleTank really is a very quick workstation. With a little bit of research/knowledge of the tools used on the original recording and some ingenuity I was able to do a Floydesque take on the "Shine on You" Part I sounds in just a few minutes only using instruments from these Xpansion Tanks with no external processing of any kind (limited myself on purpose).

I used sounds from Vintage Keys, Cinematik, and SampleOB Xpander (and only one from each for the pad, one from SampleOB Xpander for lead). Mind the few seconds of silence at the beginning - I also only took a few minutes to tweak the export Smile

Cognition
The reason the demos you've heard are focusing on unusual effects is because that is (in my opinion) the Cinematic Collection's strong point. You might want to check out Symphonic Strings, which seems to have a bigger emphasis on strings rather than effects. I don't have that one, so can't comment.
Here's something I improvised real quick using the Cinematic Collection strings;
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3049335/Cinematic_strings.mp3

For me this doesn't cut it for strings, and neither does Garritan (for me). I'd recommend East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra, even if you can only afford the Silver Edition. You can always upgrade later. However, this might not be within your budget. (Note: I'm an EWQLSO Gold Plus user, which is in a completely different price class from SampleTank).

For new readers, here is my demo of the aspects of the Cinematic Collection that are more exciting to me personally:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3049335/Jon%20C ... ration.mp3

Edit: It is definitely possible to get better results with the Cinematic Collection strings than my improvisation. I was just improvising for a few min on my MIDI controller using presets (sometimes with a reverb or a delay added)

I tried and succeeded at only picking traditional orchestral sounds only from Cinematik and within a few minutes had a decent combi and multi-out setup to do this small piece. Forgive the crashes in the wrong place and other nits here and there. There's layered strings, brass, and winds with a lame percussion track - all from Cinematik only:

Some of the Beach Boy vocals done up quickly, starts "in the manner of the church" (a capella - I have to try to brush up on the true Italian meanings seeing that our HQ is in Italy) then in a mix then back to a cappella. I've added bass from the Bass tank, organ from the Vintage Keys, and a drum loop from the Vintage Rock loops for the midsection "mix":

Here is a quick jam with several libraries involved:
http://members.dslextreme.com/users/jre ... padjam.mp3
The pad is from Cinematik, layered with some stuff from World music. The hand drum is from World, as is the psaltery. The bowed bass is from Symphony Strings 2. The guitar is my Strat through a non-IK product (sorry). It is just a two-chord ambient sort of thing, and I am no pro, but a lot of people might do this sort of thing with SampleTank.

Here's a dry run on the Hip Hop instrument pack. It's only the tip. You could ride out a career with just this set.
www.4shared.com/audio/mH09rixa/hip_it.html
Someone requested a pop demo using the Hip Hop set because that person wasn't a fan of hip hop. I made an old sounding piece because the Hip Hop sounds are old. Hip Hop likes to recycle. if you're looking for hip hop... btw, which GM set recreates old analogue like that?

androidlove
I filled up all 16 slots for this retro pop piece using the hip hop set. Uses just the effects that loaded with the parents. If you have a cheese allergy, you may want to avoid this.
www.4shared.com/audio/0XYJQ4Tg/hip_pop.html
Whereas the bass break in hip it was garbage, this one is the bomb (please, someone get that).

Thought, I want to share my work with you guys. Maybe it would help people to decide, if they want to join the GB. And also it's a "thank you" for IKMM and SR for it. So they know what people do with their sets Wink

It's done with a few freebies for the electronic-sounds and mastering, the rest is done with these packs of the GB:
  • Cinematik Collection
  • Piano Collection 2
  • Symphony Strings 2
  • World Grooves
Have fun with it, and pm me if you like it. If not, don't say it - I'm a cry-baby! Crying or Very sad HiHi

Here's a little loop I made after I downloaded the Acoustic Drums today:
http://rapidshare.com/files/384715164/J ... emo_01.mp3
I'm using a Kit from Acoustic Drums 2 that I edited to be a bit tighter, keys are from the Piano Collection 2 and a little spice from the Cinematic Collection. Just 3 channels used, bass comes from my Roland Fantom G as I haven't got the Bass xpansion (yet).
Here's a little screen-shot of ST while playing this:

Here's another little demo:
http://rapidshare.com/files/384720448/J ... emo_02.mp3
Just 3 channels, a mandolin patch I created using the World Instruments Collection + Tremble Strings from the Cinematic Collection.
http://img.skitch.com/20100507-nns7313y ... p1tkbe.jpg
I used Toraverb for the big reverb. The built-in ST reverb would probably have done the trick just as well, but I happened to have Toraverb in my Aux so I just used it...

Here's an arp only demo. It's the default sounds. Run it through a chorus and a delay or a flanger and a reverb if it sounds too plain

Baard

To celebrate 7x1 I share what I have been doing with ST the last days. All sounds are from the GB, the title celebrates us reaching 7 at this very moment!

That would be the ARP Prosoloist flute with some pitch modulation. I posted my patch list here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/965632/sampletank.JPG (I never got around to use the congas tho)

Its from the Sampletank XT pack. So is the organ and the flute. The "salsa" piano in the first part of the song is "Upright" from piano collection tho. Really like that one, but it didnt cut through towards the end, so I kept HQ Free Piano there, I wrote with that one. Thats what amazes me with what I got from this deal. You are writing from the second you load a sound and press a key.

I made a short Dark Hip Hop Instrumental demo last night using DeepSouth, World Instruments, World grooves, Cinematik, DownTempo and Vocal Collection. This can give you an idea of the sounds included. I wish I had the time to add more sounds to it, but alas..

Here's a simple piece, Eight for one, I created with one instance of Sampletank and every sound used is from this group buy. It uses 2 sounds from the OB library, 2 Vintage rock grooves, a bass from the bass collection, 3 guitars from the electric guitar collection, and one sound from the vintage keys collection.

curt1lp
I used the first patch in hip hop instruments - electric sweep (2.05) and some beats out of Downtempo Electronica Tempos (2.50)to enhance a basic backing track posted by Scuzzo at the Les Paul forum jamzone

(I also added some Xils3 Le action, Minimogue luxus and Absynth (organ sound) as well as my Strat into Le Poulin Le456 with cab impulses, effects bluetube effects especially the Tempo Delay effect from the audiomidi nobrainer and BooteqMk2, Ferric TDS.)

Since we's all gettin' greedy...how 'bout an EXTRA bonus if we hits 6000 by Monday at midnight (the original end date)?   :hihi:

Merely asking about this...

So I am not being greedy, I quote:

Am I wrong? Is that site telling me the wrong price?
Or is there a special on buying through esoundz?

This is a wonderful GroupBuy. I'm not really rich so I want to say thanks for this offer. I never could have bought so many Sounds otherwise. And I'm absolutely happy with the quality... THANKS A LOT!

Greetz... Siedler
Ignore that. It is an issue with how it displays and tries to convert what it would be in Euro. But the site doesn't charge in Euro - it charges in dollars.
ah, ok... thanks for the reply! - just as i thought.

I want to be sure if there is any difference in buying over esoundz or ik?

btw.: Happy "Music-Makin-Time" for your son, Analyst! ;) That's what I call a cool DAD and a cool Chef!!
But there IS a difference. You get more sounds if you buy it from esoundz. ;)

You see, here's the thing... we KNOW it it is convenient to get these group buys from IK. So, traditionally we have to raise the deal, raise the bar, up the ante, challenge them to a duel (okay that's taking it too far). Ironically in this case IK is selling Sonic Reality sounds... so the whole thing is all in good fun really. David (Squids) and Golliath (Italian Stallion). But I've got a sling shot... and it's 1 gigabyte of EXTRA sounds you can't get anywhere else! They'll still "win" and everyone wins really. But it is fun to play...

Now, to raise the bar even more we're going to add on ANOTHER bonus if ESOUNDZ can reach 1,000 joiners alone. We're about a tenth of the way there. We don't have the counter system anymore on this type of Group Buy unfortunately but I can look it up and update you all and let you know if you're getting close. You'd have to REALLY spread the word (I do! How much? A LOT! Right you're in... name the movie/skit first and get $5 in epointz!) and tell everyone to buy it from esoundz. Don't worry, IK doesn't mind. ;) IK expects me, El Squidsarino - the stirrer of pots, the controversial sea creature who... okay you get the point - to pull a little stunt like this... try to seduce you into buying it from us instead.

Now this other bonus... hmmm, I may have to start breaking out the sound lists. The bonus material from esoundz may just be worth joining an extra time on esoundz even if you already joined once with IK. Or join twice with esoundz... hmmm, okay, I've got another one for ya! JOIN TWICE on esoundz and we'll give you $25 back in epointz! (basically the second one has a half back rebate in credit on the site for other sounds).

So, here's a summary:

1. Join the group buy on www.esoundz.com and you'll get an extra exclusive 1 gigabyte library of sounds - most of which have never been released in this form.

2. Join TWICE and get $25 in epointz back into your account to use on other downloadable sounds (that are downloadable from esoundz or www.downloadablesoundz.com - that includes some nice a la carte SampleTank sounds by the way)

3. If 1,000 people or more join at ESOUNDZ (actually we'll include people that join twice as two separate people so you have a better chance of hitting the thousand) then we will give everyone ANOTHER surprise bonus that I will reveal soon. Those that know us know we do some sweet bonus extras so... this could get good!

Here's the link. Spread the word! http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?Prod ... ode=XT2KVR
simple enough question..

Post

Wow. I'm gonna let Squids dig himself out of that one. :-o

I had never even heard about the $25 back until now... and I might have joined a second time through eSoundz (rather than twice more through IK) if I had known of that.

When did this correspondence take place? Was it in this thread? I wonder if this was at the very beginning of the GB, and if Squids got in trouble for saying that and decided to withdraw that particular incentive?

I don't think there is any doubt that some sort of additional bonus can be expected, with this talk about 2 different bonuses. I'm afraid that the eSoundz portion of this GB has not been very well handled in terms of keeping people informed of the changing details.

Has anyone gotten the Jazz loops? Are there any "brushes only" loops in this library? Curious..

I think this is the one I'll go for when we make it to the next level :D

Lemme check that for you right now (just picked that one as my last selection).

100_MH_BigBand_35 - 46 have brushes on the snare, but still a kick/snare pattern going- although you can use the slices to use most of the brush swirls on the snare

There are a few other ranges of beats with brushes- all very tasteful and with a lot of feeling.

Actually, now that I went through them= I feel better about this pack- very very nicely recorded- lots of groove- lots of brush work.
No isolated rhythms- you are getting useable full beats with every loop. Now if you are creative- you will likely be able to use the slices- although my one complaint is how you exactly would use this to build a complete drum track as there are many varieties of a beat that span many presets- I wish though would have made a preset containing all the tempo matched loops so you can play them under 1 instrument.

I would say that if someone is looking for more flexability- the Jazz RAW pack would be a great choice for the Esoundz freebie (I know the World one is awesome- and works great inside Logic).

I wasn't aware of the $25 back thing either. Thanks, Stephan326! All three of my sign-ups were through esoundz, and I certainly don't have the epointz to reflect it. Wonder if Squids backed off on that one.

It's also nice to see more evidence that I'm not hallucinating about this phantom 1 gig exclusive set. Squids was quite obviously describing a specific set in that post, not making a general reference to a choice from a list.

This is why I'd like clarity on the terms and options before I make most of my choices from either IK or esoundz.

I'm still willing to sign on a fourth time for the right options - but I absolutely HAVE to know the full list of what those options are before I do. A fourth entry would make absolutely no sense otherwise, as we might even hit 10x1 before the June 6 deadline.

Post

And just to be clear - I'm not complaining. I *love* esoundz and Sonic Reality and think Squids should get a Nobel Prize.

No matter what else comes out of this, I'm quite satisfied with the results of this record-smashing group buy.

I'm saying that I'll be tempted to throw even MORE money at esoundz if someone there could please clarify what all the terms are, spell out for us EXACTLY what ALL of our bonus options are, and what the previously mentioned extra jaw-dropping surprise(s) will be.
